  Flawed Website

  when i first seen this website i actually thought it was a jw website hence the home page and not an ex jw website and i posted a topic thinking people were real witnesses then i quickly discovered it was not and all these people were commenting and embarrassing me and i couldn’t even delete the thread.

  then i asked the admin to delete it and i said it was very misleading saying it’s a jw page and he’s like are you serious i deleted your topic and now you are attacking me and it clearly says ex jw page.

  he was very rude and btw no where does it say ex jw and you should be able to delete your own threads you start.

  Secret Dating

  so i moved out of my small town into the big city and staying with an older sister i’ve been having some fun in the big city wink wink.

  but i have a good standing with the congregation in the city they are nice but don’t really pay a lot of attention to me.

  i have been dating a “worldly guy” who is amazing love him but the older sister said he wasn’t allowed in the house.

  talking about how the garden of eden compares to our spiritual paradise that we are currently inhabiting.

  he didn't mention the earthly paradise until the very last sentence.

  I doubt it highly, that's part of how they rope people in. It's the carrot to their eventual stick, and even the most die-hard Jehovah's Witnesses would feel betrayed if they pulled that rug out from under them, particularly in the global south, where promises of an estate in the mountains must sound pretty damn lovely.

  Elders encouraging young ones to live in a fairy tale

  so one of the elders at the meeting tonight addressed to parents in his talk, “if your child wants to flip burgers for the rest of their life, because that’s is the only job that will allow them to have a schedule for full time service, you would want to support them the best you can.” he has also said told parents that if their children already have plans to go to college, even in the near future, they should try to do everything to stop them.

  there’s so much ranting i could do about that alone, but to make matters worse, this is a considerably well off man.

  he has his own buisness, a nice house with an additional room he added on last year, and him and his wife just took a lavish european trip.

  You can in small ways. Do you talk to any kids or teenagers at your hall? If they ever bring up the subject of college, or you bring it up yourself opportunely because he gives another cringeworthy talk like that, tell them about the man giving the advice: that he doesn't need to worry about money, but they may one day unless they get a good job, and for that, they probably need a college education.

  As I see it, this either shows how the author actually feels (in other words, to him or her there's no difference between a Branch Committee member laying off a Bethelite with 20 years of experience under his belt and a temporary special pioneering assignment ending) or the author purposefully compares apples to oranges, as you put it, to downplay the layoffs. Hard to say, these guys can be pretty slick.

  See, that's over the top. I'm not saying Jehovah's Witnesses shunning people can't drive them to suicide, I'm sure that happens. But what will non-Witnesses think seeing someone call the nice and nicely-dressed people 'potential murderers'? It sounds absurd. It's a bold statement, but they should have left it at 'My daughter was induced to suicide,' that speaks for itself.

  Rules and regulations, if that doesn't reveal the bottom line I don't know what does. Your mothers died, we kicked you out of Bethel, but hey, at least you can make us a couple new converts, when are they gonna start tithing? Oh wait we don't call it tithing, we call it voluntary donations... as if donations could be involuntary...

  Hemdrixgrip, I respect that man, he's obviously in a rough situation and if he doesn't make the cuts they're probably gonna cut him. But he is complicit, you're right about that.

  I'm afraid I sound like a broken record but I just wish the author(s) would own what high-ranking Brothers decide, I imagine Branch Committee members lay people off, could be wrong but... why all the passive language? They never say who decides to lay people off, its ' have been reassigned,' 'were informed', ' a change in our theocratic assignments,' etcetera ad nauseum. Who reassigned them? Who informed them? Who made the change? Just own that you're laying people off with no jobs to fall back on after they gave you years of their life so you can sit around in cushy chairs and work in well-kept offices and never worry about where your next meal comes from. These people, man, seriously. They drive me up the wall.

  i’ve been visiting this site since probably around 2011. in that time, i’ve taken a lot from these discussions and never contributed anything.

  i’m not sure that i have much to contribute these days because i just don’t pay too much attention to wt land.

  Hendrixguy, you got it down: don't live your life to piss them off (I mean, if it does you should chuckle a little and then move on, hahaha), live it because you like it, because it's you. It took me a long time to figure that out.
