I think they just don't want to hit you right off the bat with everybody dying at Armageddon except for them, that sounds a little... grim, for chapter 7, you probably know the guy you're studying with for like a month or two at that point... might turn some people off to the whole baptism thing.

Just peeking in for a bit...
by Jidders ini rather apprehensively would like to say hello.. i've been raised somewhat in the truth, one of my parents is rather rather strong in the beliefs but could honestly be considered pomi with how active they are and their side of the family comes from a line of witnesses, the other parent was but faded a long time ago.
as such i was taught quite a bit of jw teachings between family and off and on again bible studies.
recently i had a serious emotional break down over a few months after said pomi parent had advised me that they would not attend my wedding should that day come (i also had recieved a text from my bible teacher i hadnt heard from in a year or two giving a scripture) and it sorta all sank on me that my activity over the last few years was not really jw material.

They say it over and over Jidders both because they're a one-trick pony so to say and because if they don't repeat their nonsense over and over you'll stop believing it pretty fast, it doesn't connect to reality in any meaningful way, they're building sandcastles on the beach that the tide of reason and experience can and will take out real quick.

Jitters, I want to say this absolutely clearly: throughout history people who don't want others to see the truth about themselves always discourage them from reading sources they didn't produce. This isn't just true of JW's, I'm gonna quote a poem by Ephraim Syrus, he's an early Catholic 'church father' who wrote in the 4th century:
The Lord will bless you oh faithful church, for you are not concealing the book of the insane Marcion, nor the books of the mad Mani
Might not rhyme in English but you get the point. Ephrem's telling his congregation not to read people who disagree with him. Remember, the Catholic 'church fathers' claim that the canonical gospels came from the apostles, which makes them the only true Gospels. This disqualifies all competing Christian faiths at the time (many existed l, few survived), and elevates the Catholic Church. But Marcion and Mani wrote in those books mentioned in the poem that the apostles didn't write the canonical gospels, which of course undermines the Catholic Church fathers' claims to Authority. Obviously, Ephraim wouldn't want his congregation reading that.
If a group tells you not to read their critics or at least not look at the evidence themselves, they admit in doing so that they don't even believe what they say. Don't listen to these people anymore. Hell, dont listen to me either except what I'm gonna tell you right now:
Listen to yourself. Go out and do the research, don't take my word for it, dont take our word for it, go to sites like jwfacts.com, you can find PDFs of some of Russell and Rutherfords works online, there's also a lot of good scholarly work on Jehovah's Witnesses too. If you want some places to start PM me. Best of luck on your journey. You're doing great already.

Wow is rhat picture... stereotypical. You got Chairman Mao hanging out in the background and a Joseph Mugabe type calling the shots from the boardroom table, that and some balding James Bond wannabe smoking a cigarette all poised and proper in the shadows. It's like a movie poster just even more melodramatic, Lord.

Something more than physical life.
by Charles Gillette inmost every night, where i work i transport dead persons to the morgue.
others i work with have told me that around 3:00am they hear voices in the morgue.. i asked them have they experienced something more than physical life?
just the voices inside the cold morgue.

I wouldn't say this except online but on rare occasions, real late at night, if I'm sleep-deprived and want to sleep but can't I might hear a snippet of what sounds like a voice but it's just my brain playing tricks on me, and it's always gibberish, it's not like I hear coherent words. Late night shifts, I could see that happening to others. Or they're just trying to be all spooky, who knows?

I realized today what I am, and why they look at me with contempt
by Tameria2001 intoday my inlaws wanted to meet their new great-grandson.
they hadn't been in our lives since we left the jws back in 2001. but every time, even though very briefly, i was around them, they always had this same look on their face.
it was of utter and complete disgust.

Definitely. My family still pretty much believe in the Baptist faith and I find it hard to talk to them sometimes, they don't get that bad but they do make little comments that hurt. Sounds like today's progress in the right direction even if it's a small step forward.

They talk out of both sides of their mouth, but you see through that, and I'm glad you're showing that same thing to others on here.
