  Admit doubts

  would a jw ever admit that s/he has doubts about the wt teachings?

  do they have the order to pretend they believe everything or could they discuss what bothers them?.

  i assume they have to pretend they think everything is dandy and the teachings logical when they speak with elders or other witnesses.

  Hey Matty, ............thanks for your honesty. 'spouting garbage from the platform' whoa!, would like to say that surprised me but I've sat through too many meetings. But KNOWING that it's 'garbage'. May you have a huge measure of peace as you continue towards the unification of your heart, mind, gut, and mouth.

  Thanks Bill for the post, may the tide continue to turn. I am a bit concerned about some of the responses given regarding Winesses coming around to reality. Didn't it take all of us some time to work through the process of coming to terms with what the WBTS stands for? It happens, at times incrementally, and this through education. I am now able to allow this process to unfold for countless others as I do my part to continue the proliferation of real facts. Anyone begining the process of sincerely questioning the WBTS should be encouaged.

  Too much bad language, sex & pics

  please can everyone think twice before they make posts containing bad language (even if not directed at individuals), graphic sex talk and nude or semi-nude pictures (especially if explicit).

  this is not what the forum is here for.

  if you want to post stuff like that then there are lots of places on the internet for it and, more importantly, if people want to see and read stuff like that then they are quite capable of going to these places themselves.. i know everyone likes to 'let their hair down' now and again, me included, and i like pictures of sexy women as much as anyone .

  Thanks Simon for all your hard work in keeping this site open....I agree with your sentiments. Yes it is true, the great majority have been affiliated with an organization that only espoused things like moderation and fellow concern. Perhaps this is a place where we can continue to progress in those areas. For some that feel the need to really 'get funky', maybe you could start your own site, thereby leaving Simon more free time for that great community work he does down at the local pub.

  Bible vs JW 2-witness rule

  the watchtower and its apologists keep insisting that the bible gives them no choice but to insist on two witnesses to an act of molestation before they can do anything beyond filing a report with headquarters.

  there is very clear teaching in the bible that the two-witness principle does not apply to this type of situation.

  Welcome Robert....although you are not a JW, you most certainly bring salient points to the forum. Makes me think of how Jesus, as a youngster, because of his godly wisdom, gained favor in the eyes of God and 'men'. Fortunately the converse is true. People can spot unmitigated hypocrisy. Thanks for shining one more flashlight under their rock.

  Policy is a changin'.....and as people like Bill Bowen, Barbara Anderson, the Pandelos, Erica et. al. continue in the reconstruction of lives under attack for taking a stand against shameful policies, I am so strengthened to hear them shout 'WE WOULD DO IT AGAIN FOR THE SAKE OF OUR CHILDREN!!!!'....principles are monitoring the WBTS. Is the whirlwhind about to be reaped?

  Dateline discussed openly in our congregation

  yesterday, the presiding overseer (elder h) read the letter from the christian congregation of jehovahs witnesses (us branch) regarding their policy on child abuse.

  all scriptures were also looked up and read.. elder h is a very prepared brother.

  he is a gilead graduate and served as a missionary for about 7 years in kenya before coming home because of illness.

  Matix....once again..'it ain't about what we say we do, it's about what we do'. There was a time in my life when I was so upset with my critics. I wanted them to judge me according to my intentions and they kept judging me according to my CONDUCT!!!. What a great dynamic. As true for me as it is for the WTBS. For someone who may never have experienced the dire consequences of elder malfeasnace in dealing with molestation, it certainly doesn't serve the interests of sensibility to say it 'can't be like you describe it'. I really hope you are in a congregation that is very loving and responsible to this problem, but many of us haven't been and all the rehtoric in the world won't change that. Do you know what it feels like when you see the elders protect their precious children from a molester, while the others in the cong. can't be warned because that would be causing divisions?

  Circuit Overseers and Corruption

  as an ex presiding overseer and public affairs spokesperson who is now disfellowshipped!!!

  i am new to this site and have read with keen interest the many and varied topics that have been posted.

  during my 9 years of presiding i encountered certain corrupt c/os for example the friends would treat them like little demy gods, hanging onto their every word, they would, on their visit influence the brothers to part with cash for privledges.

  Welcome Martin to the site, looking forward to your input....Bonovox, I think the point is not about invalidating the 'good ol daze', heck, we all had some pretty neat experiences back then. Yeah, the Peace Train was about to pull on out and the 'place' was a hub of warm fuzzies. But because the organization is now so rife with graff and corruption, any person in a resposible position (C/O) not seeing the truth about the truth has to work really hard to disregard the facts. Accountability is always waiting.

  Thanks Bill for keeping us informed of others outrage over WBTS policy. I will always remember the overt and covert ways we were made to feel that our reaction was 'so out of step with the rest of God's organization'. We are most certainly not alone!!! A new perspective to 'the small one becoming a mighty nation'.

  Dateline Aftermath

  the result of the airing of the dateline program has been very positive.

  dateline program will no doubt air again in reruns and may get further coverage soon.

  Thanks Bill........What is it? There on the horizon, such a bright light. Look it seems to be coming from Brooklyn. Oh dear brothers look, we have been provided with 'new light'. We've waited on Jehovah, not run ahead like some, and now somehow policies are a changin'.....can you just hear it!!!
