this tragic story has been developing over the last couple of days in venezuela.

there is a mixture of reports and accounts coming in..... two jehovah's witnesses (and fleshly sisters) aged 71 and 65, where found murdered.

a 26 year male suspect has been arrested.. in the apartment where the two where found dead, the words "death to witnesses" (“muerte a los testigos”) had been scrawled onto one of the walls.. he killed them because they expelled him from the jehovah's witnesses - canal de noticia, nov 28, 2017. .

Something like this was bound to happen, sooner or later. Less than balanced individuals take matter into their own hands.

Venezuela is a violent, crime ridden hell hole.

Used to be a much nicer place. I've been to that particular town.

what does remain popular (in fact is still the dominant view) is a similar idea that things that experience the world (humans, frogs, mice) are different from things that don't experience the world (potatoes, rocks, snowflakes).

Well, I know personally that I have a conscious mind. I experience myself directly.

However, I am incapable of experiencing another mind or proving that it exists.

You could be sitting across from me and still could not know or prove that you have a conscious mind.

I can measure your brain activity, but that isn't the same exact thing.

In isolation, that idea might be defensible on some level. A conscious observer is needed to collapse the wavefunction. Without the observer, Schrodinger''s cat is neither alive nor is it dead.

I can show that frogs, mice and humans experience to varying degrees, but I cannot show that an inanimate rock can. So what can this idea be built on if it's an assertion about physical reality?

January 2018 Message of Judgment - What Is This?

i've now seen a couple of references to this and did a little digging before leaving for work.

i saw someone on reddit in july saying that someone on the inside said a change was coming in 2018 with the jw message, and i've now seen two references to this in the past week.

help a former brother out.

If there was anything to their judgement message, everybody would have been dead a long time ago.

Stranger Things on Netflix

i've been knee deep in this netflix series "stranger things," which is a science fiction show about a group of adolescent friends in a town where a government lab has been doing experiments.

it took me like a year to get around to watching it.

but so glad that i finally started.
