Why do Jehovah's Witnesses attend so many meeting?

it looks like the zoom meetings have softened up many witnesses.

many are probably turning off their cameras and zoning out.

I had the impression that they ended the weekly book study because they realized that the meeting schedule was onerous and might wear people out. The thing was, it was the most convenient of the meetings for most people- the location was usually closer to home than the Kingdom Hall, it was only an hour, and it was a small and cozy group. They let us host it at our apartment for many years, which made it even more convenient.

But if the WTS was going to shorten the schedule, they couldn't cut either of the big meetings. So they axed the one that was probably the most popular, while still using people's apartments as a staging location for field service. They used my apartment for a few years even after I faded, because my mother is a diehard PIMI and I wasn't causing any trouble and I think they were hoping to get me to go back in.

Do the old boys on the GB actually report their field service hours?

this came to mind as my 71 year old wife got up at 6:30 to drive 1.1/4 hours to meet the field ministry group.

we live a long way from the kingdom hall and the traffic is horrendous where we live!.

somehow, i doubt the good old boys do much themselves.

I don't remember if I ever counted the time from the public talks I gave. They owe me two hours!

I'm curious what kind of setup Lloyd and Tibor were using. Would Croatian authorities stop a person who pulled out a phone to record a vlog in public? Or someone who wanted to film a street performer or even just film a street corner or intersection for any reason?

Normally, they would want permits if the filming will obstruct traffic or affect local businesses or create a potential safety hazard. Unless things are more strict in Zagreb.

Who raised Jesus from the dead?

i have seen arguments surrounding jesus' resurrection being proof of "the trinity" - now while in some cases it's a good argument the evidence for it remains very weak.

(bible quotes are from the nwt but other bibles are referenced, use whichever you please) this following version of it is a good example.. "the bible indicates that all [persons] of the trinity was involved in jesus’ resurrection.

galatians[1:1] says that the father raised jesus from the dead.

The USAF was able to induce NDEs in pilots by subjecting them to high G-forces:

They weren't trying to do that, they were studying the effects of such forces on pilots who were flying their (then) new F-15 and F-16 jets, which were able to create much higher forces than a person could normally withstand.

They also asked the pilots to describe the symptoms they experienced while in the centrifuge or in flight. A clear pattern emerged. The first thing they experienced was tunnel vision, which results from a lack of blood flow to the eyes and is a precursor to a blackout. Then, while unconscious, many of the subjects experienced short, vivid dreams, or dreamlets. The dreams were often about past experiences or family and friends.

In addition to dreamlets, a significant number of pilots reported having out-of-body experiences. The subjects described the sensation of floating above their planes and looking down at their bodies. Sometimes the dreamlets and out-of-body experiences were accompanied by feelings of euphoria and warmth. Some subjects said they saw a bright light.

Surprised by his findings, Whinnery sought out scientific literature about reported out-of-body experiences. He found that out-of-body experiences were reported by cardiac arrest patients who were resuscitated. The pilots and heart attack victims had something in common: a momentary loss of blood to the brain.

Thanks for the update, Danny. I think we are seeing more and more people who ferociously defended Evans and then are learning who he really is. He has spent years polishing his image and building a brand, and also misleading people. This is why I think his support will continue to crumble; very few people are willing to support the person that he actually is, so most of his remaining support is from people who aren't aware of what he has been doing.

One can experience a hallucination, or a delusion brought about by drugs or stress or a number of other causes. None of these experiences are real, but they are experienced nonetheless.

Are the teachings of JW—consistent?

i would belief so but if you can point something out, it can be discussed.. i don’t mean what jw taught in the past that they later realized was not correct and amended.

—unless you think and can show something like that is relevant.. i’ve spoken to a lot of believers from different religions.

i don’t want to bash any religion here under this topic but their beliefs are inconsistent and their reasons are sophistry and made up and grounded on circular reasoning.

Blotty: No religion has everything 100% correct

I agree with that sentiment, though I think it could also be said that we don't know which one is 100% correct. I would hope that if there is one that is true, it would be guided by a being who felt that truth and confidence in its word was important enough to make sure they had everything right. And that it wasn't leaving us to wander hopelessly in the dark, either.

i was thinking about freedom of speech after watching a clip about the jw suing kevin mcfree.

they wanted to take away his freedom of speech.

but in thinking about it, that is the way of the organization, save they want to control thought as well.

Fisherman: A person’s feelings of what constitutes abuse of process may not be the case.

That cuts both ways. In any case, I described their ethical failings, so I will leave it to each person to decide where they draw the line. As I said, I suspect the WTS would draw it differently if they were on the other side of the issue.

Sure. And if you don't have an issue with someone misusing the courts to try and get someone's personal information --not because of an actual copyright issue, but to silence criticism-- well... okay. I get the impression that the WTS would not see things the same way if the roles were reversed, though.
