You know you've got it good when "the government won't give us millions of dollars for nothing" is considered persecution and a sign of the end times.

Who raised Jesus from the dead?
by Blotty ini have seen arguments surrounding jesus' resurrection being proof of "the trinity" - now while in some cases it's a good argument the evidence for it remains very weak.
(bible quotes are from the nwt but other bibles are referenced, use whichever you please) this following version of it is a good example.. "the bible indicates that all [persons] of the trinity was involved in jesus’ resurrection.
galatians[1:1] says that the father raised jesus from the dead.

I just want to point out that it's not necessarily an either/or proposition. I don't rule out the supernatural or the existence of gods. I am simply not convinced by the ones put forth. Or, more accurately, by the concept of god as humans have typically constructed it- the supposed perfect interventionist who doesn't seem perfect and never appears to intervene. I'm not religious, so I am not obliged to accept a set of rigid beliefs if I am not convinced that they are true, or if I am not learned enough to determine that for myself.
Thus, I am not bound by any precepts of materialism or supernaturalism. I have no need to convince anyone of my stance on the origins of the universe, as I am neither qualified nor obligated to do so. Anyone who wishes to convince me would need to explain their reasons and their reasoning. I don't have the education necessary to understand high-level astronomy or physics, so you won't see me trying to convince someone that the universe is the exclusive result of material processes. Happily, the universe goes about its business --and I go about mine-- just fine without my ever needing to understand them.
And if god wishes to get my attention, I am sure she can figure something out.

If a vacation is defined to include 'not working,' then it seems to me that he takes vacations all the time.

A search warrant must state what the police/agents are seeking. Does anyone know what they are searching for in the kingdom halls? I would assume that there may be correspondence that would be sent between the WTS and the local congregation in regards to the accused. That's a pretty far reach, unless they have reason to think that such correspondence exists. Could it be that someone was questioned by the cops and indicated that there may be records pertaining to his actions in the congregation files?

The MACALLAN immortality hope!
by BoogerMan inif you drink macallan whisky, at armageddon you will become righteous immediately, a son of god, brother of christ, an immortal king/priest, and to cap it all, help all the un-righteous minions on earth grow to perfection gradually over the next 12,000 months.
no such 'growing' needed for macallan drinkers!

The anointed will cooperate closely with Jesus Christ to direct the educational program that will be carried out here on earth during the 1,000 years.
Those do sound like the words of someone who has drained one too many bottles of booze.

Report a corruption in a Kingdom Hall
by VictorGoh inhow can i report a corruption in a kingdom hall?
can i escalate this to the jw headquarter?
any suggestions are appreciated..
-

It depends on what you mean by 'corruption.' If it's a crime, report it to the police. If it's an issue of people not following the organization's rules, call the Watchtower HQ. I'm sure things will be handled discreetly and in an ethical and even-handed manner.

I have to admit, I'm surprised that they require 'full vaccination.' I wonder how that is being received at many congregations.

The Gospel According to Jehovah's Witnesses
by Vanderhoven7 inmark jones explains the watchtower gospel much better than i can.. "the good news that christians in the first century preached was the birth, death and resurrection of jesus christ; that all those who believed in him were saved and reconciled to god through the death of his son.. unfortunately jehovah’s witnesses) have been led to believe it is something bizarrely different.
the good news according to the watchtower society is as follows:.
the the good news (according to jehovah’s witnesses).

proves conclusively
Look, I don't believe in god or that any miracles in any ancient books/texts happened. But I cringe anytime anyone claims to have "absolute proof" or "conclusive proof" for or against any of those claims. Those words are, at the very least, doing some very heavy lifting. Just give us the facts and let us figure things out.

Jesus's brothers-apostates?
by enoughisenough inthis came to me today.
at first jesus's own brothers didn't believe in him....thought he was crazy...can you imagine him shunning them for apostasy?
i would think disbelieving in jesus would be far worse than disbelieving the gb.

What hymns will you never hear sung in Kingdom Halls of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Vanderhoven7 infor sure you will never hear the national anthem of heaven below.
do you know others?.

Because the WTS tries to find ways to separate it from other Christian denominations, I bet they would find something objectionable with any hymn that was not from their own songbook. It's been a very long time, but I would guess that the JW hymns are focused on obedience to the GB and glorifying Jehovah, with the occasional morsel thrown to Jesus. Not quite the sort of thing that you would expect to hear outside of a Kingdom Hall.
