Nothing has changed. It should not surprise us that the earliest failed prophets would be mindful that they would be mocked. I'm sure that many of the people who made failed predictions over the centuries have also been mocked. Certainly, the ones in modern times have been mocked mercilessly. Harold Camping is a good example. Did the mockery make his predictions any less wrong? No, they did not.

As for the signs, there have been many periods in the past when things were far worse than they are today. The Bubonic Plague may have killed as many as a third of the population of the planet at the time, and there have been times with terrible suffering from famine and war and natural disasters. Indeed, the one way in which the modern day differs is that we are suffering less from these problems.

Dinosaur Soft Tissue

back when the dinosaur soft tissue story was broken in 2005, i predicted that that many more soft tissues would be found and that it wouldn't matter if it was supposedly "65 million" years old or "165 million" years old.

the prediction has proven true and dinosaur soft tissue is routinely now found regardless of supposed age.

this is easy to predict using a literal reading of genesis and accepting it as history.... .

Wasn't there a time when they claimed Earth was around 42,000 years old? Based on a six-day creation made up of 7,000-year "days," or something equally nutty.

Granted, it's based on the same literalist thinking that gives us a 6,000 year old planet, so you could come up with a range of values. They're all wrong, which is what you get when your unit of measure is "whatever these ancient people pulled out of their asses." But, as with so many other beliefs, the WTS found ways to differentiate themselves for no other apparent reason than wanting to be different.

EisMe: I realize this, but we are in a different time period.

Most of the predictions of the past were grounded in the claim that things had gotten so bad that it had to be the time of the end. Crime, disease, famine, weather events, earthquakes, war, unease, a lack of compassion... all of these were used as signs that this time, it was going to happen.

The thing is, these things are always happening. You may as well claim that the rising and setting of the Sun are a sure sign of the end. In other words: we are not in a different time period, where these things are concerned. We're in the same time period we've always been in.

Yeah, that's the problem: your claim is incorrect. Don't use old books written by people who didn't understand their world to make predictions many centuries later. We have plenty of examples of why this doesn't work. Yours will be yet another.

PIMA is best so it’s not a shock to the system if the tower collapsed

i know most people here are totally out and that’s fine.. many these days are staying physically in for the social life and that is also fine.. i feel being fully mentally in is dangerous as it could be such a shock mentally if or should i say when the tower collapsed.. im sitting in the fence like so many others here.

mentally agnostic if god exists or not and if the bible is his word.. when i talk to people who are physically and mentally still in i can tell that they so need it to be true.

i’m worried for them when they wake up to the fact that they have been lied to 1914 wasn’t true 1975 wasn’t true 1999 wasn’t true and now here we are 2025 it’s all not true.

At least three of the major extinction events in the history of the planet involved changes in the climate. Global warming, global cooling, etc.

I must point out that, after I explained how one can interpret random Bible verses to make any point, you... grab a bunch of random Bible verses to try to claim that the changing climate indicates the end of the world (or whatever silliness you're on about).

In the other topic, you indicate that 2025 (this year) is when it all comes to pass. Do you still hold to this prediction, or are you going to find some way to weasel out of it?

The Governing Body is Restructuring the Org.and encouranging young ones to REACH OUT!

another generation of young people that will get old and wake up in their 50s to realize they were in a religious doomsday cult.. and they are getting rid of some old workers that ran the branches of the organization, and giving them different assignments or maybe they are just sending them home, who knows.

I wonder how long those old-timers served. When did they first arrive at Bethel? Did they ever think they would get this old before Armageddon? Did the org make any attempt to make sure they had their financial future taken care of, or would that have undermined the message that the end is very, very close?

How many of them are still loyal, after giving so much for so long, only to find themselves still in the "old system"?
