  Who has a harder time leaving JW's - Born Ins or those who converted?

  my freind (who is also out) and i were talking about this the other night.

  i was a born-in, 3rd generation jw and she converted when she was in her late 20's.. when she left, she said that she knew the world wasn't as bad as she was told as a jw, so she knew she would be fine.

  also, she still had lots of "worldly" family who welcomed her back with open arms.. it was harder for me - i had nobody in the "world", no family or freinds.

  Not true. I became a Witness as an adult and started a family. After realizing it was a cult I wanted to leave WITH MY FAMILY. I actually spent six or seven years trying to figure out how to get all of us out of the cult together.

  It didn't work.
  

  I left. They stayed and all of them shun me. I have an adult child that lives less than 1 mile (1.5 km) from me. I reach out regularly, but still get rebuffed. This has been the case for nearly a decade.

  Let's accept the fact: it can be hard for everyone, perhaps not in the same ways, but it is hard ... and very painful.

  AGM - Are they now teaching predestination?

  another agm thought.

  in tight pants tony's part, he mentioned several times that jehovah draws those he chooses and only those rightly disposed would come in.

  and individuals that liked the literature but made no progress towards becoming jw were a "waste of time".. was he setting the stage for them introducing the thought of predestination?

  page 19, paragraph 12: "with prayerful consideration, the governing body strives to be faithful and discreet with regard to how the organization’s funds are used.".

  yeah, i "prayed" too - that more and more j.w.

  's would discover that millions of dollars of their hard-earned cash were being misused to shut the mouths of j.w.

  NBD: "Are the millions of dollars worth of child abuse judgements and out of court settlements taken from the GAA, or is that another fund?"

  Does it matter? Ultimately, the source of all money the WTBTS has came from members, even if it was then leveraged into real estate or other investments.

  Debating a Christian at work.

  a christian at work has been after me for more than a year to go to his church and be saved.

  i like the guy and consider him a friend and have been politely trying to avoid the subject.

  i have recently decided that enough is enough and i told him i would discuss religion with him.

  No. It is illogical, absurd even, to suggest that illogical, incoherent, and internally contradictory beliefs can be explained logically.

  he claimed to have read all three volumes of vindication by rutherford (my sympathy if true).

  he further implied that it didn't matter that old jw literature said wrong and stupid things, saying:.

  But never mind. To be a faithful JW you must believe whatever the WT leaders teach now, as of this present moment, which ultimately is why I am no longer a JW ... faithful or otherwise.

  "New light" is just old light recycled.

  Simplified study watchtower

  there seems to be some confusion over what is happening with the study edition of the watchtower - i notice it isn't mentioned in the letter to be read out.

  if, as seems likely, it is going to be dumbed down even further then i think this could be the first step to shortening the watchtower study (to 30 mins?

  ) - it is the only meeting not to have been reduced in recent years.

  So they want to further "simplify" their already ridiculously simple publications!

  WT publications such as the The NEW "Bible Teach" book are already at a 5th grade level. They have been deliberately aiming at 11 year old children--or at least people with that reading level. This is a full three grade levels below the average reading ability of the general public and now they want to go even lower. Unbelievable!

  The WTBTS is deliberately targeting people with limited reading ability and/or limited intelligence. I guess they now know who will fall for their incoherent, nonsense religion.

  It's been suggested that maybe the WT leadership thinks that people aren't smart enough to understand "the truth." The problem is not that their beliefs or doctrines are hard to understand, it's that they don't make sense!
