  Smurfs, Pokemon, how 'bout Star Wars?

  the recent thread on pokemon reminded me of a talk i heard once years ago.

  an then-brother was giving a talk on being rightous.

  he recounted the tale of speaking with an older brother when the star wars movie first came out (episode 4, not the new ones).

  Holier than you 70%. Self guilt 30 %. Just my opinion! The holiest are God, the organization, society! If I should try another quote then my scores should be like this. The most holy, Watchtower, the true God! 70%. Much better compared with you 30%.

  What did you give up that you wish you hadn't?

  when i started studying again, i got the guilts and threw out lots of stuff.

  over 200 cd's - goth, punk, industrial, rock, pop, classical, you name it, i threw it.

  i got rid of my witchcraft books, astrology books, crystal ball, tarot cards, even my damn nintendo.

  I gave up my eldest son. This is something still troubles me. I also throw away a snake, a puffed up snake. He really looked as alive, a nice snake very beautiful, a big one. The reason I got rid of the snake was that I believed that it was daemon possessed.

  Suicides within Jehovah's Witnesses

  over the past 3-4 years i've been hearing about a number of suicides that have been committed by jws.

  whats even more interesting is that all of the individuals were male and they all had some form of a privileged position in the congregation.

  (regular pioneer, elder, minsterial servant, etc..).

  Hi all
  My eldest son hanged himself some years ago. He was young, just 17 years old. The same year, a 14 year old sister from our congregation did the same. Before that an older man, in his sixties, took the same method to leave. All of this is not natural, in a such small group of people, just 40 people, this can not be natural. Some years after, another young sister was hospitalized for a suicide attempt. She ended up as an apostate, but I hope with a new life. I have no idea of the reasons, but JW don’t like people with problems. Especially not people with personal problems related to their religion.
