watchtower & religious freedom - a double standard?.

I sent both copies (you tubes)to a girl I just friended on facebook . She just told me that her Mom (who got reinstated) refuses to talk to her daughter's daughter (who had a baby out of wedlock) and grandson (who is in the marines).

She said her Mom send her a hateful letter and said she can't talk with them anymore.

She was so hurt that she left the religion and hasn't went back.

I thought that would be a good point to work on at first since it hurt her so bad.

I haven't heard back from her yet but told her I had a few ex JW' sites I visit and I would give hr the address if she ws interested.

We shall see..

zeller's ceo, tommy zellers was gunned down early this morning by a deranged employee of the american retail giant target corp. .

the cheap-chic retailer, known to fans of its high style, low price format as tar-zhay, had announced just hours earlier it would open 100 to 150 canadian stores by 2014 by taking over many of zellers leaseholds.

mirroring the horrific murders in the united states this week where rep. gabrielle giffords was shot in the head at point blank range, zellers (the man) was also shot at close range by his attacker.

Thank you for the update.

I like the fact that the JW's are not trained in how to deal with a pedophile was brought out.
And it sickens me to think that if they see this article they will say"See, he was denied assembly with Jehovah's people and this is what happens."

It is a abnormality, a disease. what makes the Jehovah's Witnesses think they have the knowledge and experienice to know how to counsel a pedophile/rapist. Praying is not the answer..any more than praying that a severed arm or leg will grow back with prayer..(althought I did see in a tabloid that a finger tip grew back.. )

I still think that all pedophiles should be shipped to an island and left to fend for themselves with other pedophiles. Get them away from kids.

Child Abuse At The Meetings

please read and i will tell you now this was it was like for me !.

kingdom halls are a hellish memory for me.

i grew up as a jehovah's witness from the age of 9 until i fought my way to freedom at age 18. i recall children as young as a year old being beaten repeatedly for not sitting still during services...some sessions, called assemblies, were 6 hours long and lasted for 3-5 days in succession.. my nephew was one of many who felt the literal sting of the watchtower's stance of "spare the rod, spoil the child.

I just wanted to add, that after being in the JW religion from when I was newly married and now seeing many results ( a span of 40 years) of the treatment of their children, the ones that suffered "the rod" have grown up and are no longer witnesses..many even started rebelling in their teens.

Many teens rebel you say? Yes but the JW teens seem to go towards doing something to disgrace their parents and the religion. One I remember slept with one of the brothers wives..who was 20 or so years older than him. Another one married a black girl (he was white) which was really frowned on back in the 50's. Another got a girl in his hall pregnant..another shock back in the 50's.

I agree you do need to discipline your children but there are even better and more humane ways to do it now.

I wouldn't treat a dog the way many treated their kids .

There is a big difference between a "Swat on the tush" and what the JW's do.

A "Swat on the tush" doesn't take their breath away and leave welps...

I didn't see any witnesses merely "Swat" their kids...I would classify it as "beat."

There is a difference between correcting a child and using a child to let out all your frustrations on..Don't kid yourself, it isn't about the "correcting the kids" when a parent goes to extremes when "Swatting a child".
