  Why can't anyone just simply tell me who writes the watchtowers or the publications for that matter??...(please read)

  got into a discussion with my mom after a sister (that lives down the street from me) went back and told her some things that i said.

  after me and mom got done having a deep discussion on the phone, i asked my mom a simple questions: who writes the watchtowers?

  i've been going to the hall since i was three, and i have yet to have this questions answered.

  My idea of why the magazine is so widely distributed..: Because it is free..

  The Watchtower is the most widely distributed magazine in the world, with a circulation of more than 25 million. Last year, the world’s 7.3 million-strong Jehovah’s Witnesses spent 1.5 billion hours knocking on doors and “street Witnessing” — stopping folks in parks and on streets — to preach the “good news” with a copy of The Watchtower. Its closest competitors are AARP The Magazine (circulation 24.3 million) and Better Homes and Gardens (7.6 million). It doesn’t hurt that The Watchtower has been free since 1990, with the option of a small donation

  Anyone Successfully Quit Smoking Using Chantix?

  i have been on chantix for three days now.

  tomorrow is quit day, and i am keeping my fingers crossed.. anyone here quit successfully using chantix?.

  Years ago I used Wellbutrin..it was great! I couldn't tell I had taken it other than I didn't have that panicky feeling when I wanted a cigarette and was able to divert my attention elsewhere till the urge left. The Dr had me on it for 3 months, that was enough..You do however have to develop new patturns..if the urge comes go for a wlk , do a load of laundry. do anything to divert your attention away from the desire to smoke. Just walk away..that to me was the key. Keep busy or you may use a unpleasant happening as an excuse to light up. But at least the Meds took a lot of the edge off..and I really hated the smell on myself..I was embarrased when hugging others..It was a big relief to finally break the habit!

  I did go back after 5 years when Hubby passed away. Just got depressed and didn't care. Smoked for 5 years and then had a heart attack one evening while smoking..had stent placed immediately and never even considered smoking again..I have this fear of smoking one and having another pain like that..that works better than any meds..don't wait that long!

  I found this interesting article written a few years ago by a editor that interviewed some witnesses and accompanied them in service. I believe even visited Bethel. They comment on the picking of articles and who writes them etc towards the bottom of the article..pretty interesting!

  While some magazines have religious followings, few have actually started religions. The Watchtower did just that. Back then, it was Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence, so named by its founder, the writer and preacher Charles T. Russell. A former assistant editor of the Second Adventist magazine The Herald of the Morning, Russell released the first edition of Zion’s Watch Tower on July 1, 1879. It looked much like a newspaper of the time, with two columns, simple headlines and no images. Inside, readers learned that “we are living in ‘the last days,’ ‘the days of the Lord.’”

  Russell, a charismatic Pennsylvania preacher with a big graying beard and an even bigger bank account, amassed followers in the years leading up to 1879 through public speaking tours and writings in newspaper columns and the Adventist magazine. He began questioning Adventist doctrine when the world failed to end, as it had predicted, in 1878. Russell used the monthly Zion’s Watch Tower to expound a new brand of Christianity to small congregations of Bible Students, as Witnesses were then known, mostly in the Northeast.

  Did you ever wondre how a "New Light" is introduced? Does some guy sitting at a desk suddenly get a revelation? In a dream? Or possibly his wife?

  We do know that many written articles are not from the "annointed".

  Snoozy..Who knows a red herring when she reads one..

  My mother mentioned a writing department, and she said that they kept the writers hidden for their protection. I'm like WTF?

  i had to share this sad experience... even if it's not in my top priority list.. my older brother from my mom's first marriage unfortunately passed away last night.

  he had been struggling with health issues, the last few years.

  this is a very sad time in the family as you can imagine, specially because my mother lost her youngest son just five years ago.

  I feel so sorry for Tito..they probably contributed quite a bit to making his life on earth hell for him by treating him as they did..I pray somehow somewhere he can find happiness in the future..I always want to hope that there is something else out there..

  JW's are so judgemental and condeming and negative..so sad...

  Were You Ever Treated "Differently" Because One of Your Family Members Was Disfellowshipped?

  "by their love"...... shunning in the "borg" many times has effected not just the person that was dfed but other family members too.. my father was dfed in 1962 for "rebeliousness against the organization" he wanted to go to a different kh than we were assigned to.

  needless to say that decision was later reversed.. that was strange, but how the witnesses treated my mother, sister and myself....was even stranger.

  it was as if.... we now had some kind of leprosy.

  How can HOARDERS by so clueless??

  my ex-wife was a hoarder.. it happened gradually over the 18 years we were married.. things which change slowly are invisible to us.. each step is rationalized or passed off as quirky or annoying or.....whatever.. one day you look up and your 3 car garage is full of crap and the cars sit outside in the drive way.. the attic is full.

  the closets are full.

  then, the living room, the bed room.

  Many hoarders on TV have so much stuff it pushes out their family/friends because there is no room for them..maybe subconsciously they prefer the non talking type of companions..even when forced to choose they can't get rid of the stuff and become beligerent/defensive/protective that you would even ask..has to be a psychological thing...

  Regarding on line Dating services..think you are safe?

  LOS ANGELES – A California woman has sued popular website Match.com, saying she was sexually assaulted by a man she met through the online dating service.

  The civil lawsuit filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court contends the alleged assailant had previously faced sex crime charges and that the website could have prevented the attack if it had checked his criminal background. The woman suing the website is an entertainment executive identified in court documents only as Jane Doe.

  Her attorney Mark L. Webb said his client was attacked at her home by Alan Paul Wurtzel after the two went on a second date at Urth Caffe in West Hollywood last year.

  Wurtzel's attorney Sharon Morris said the incident involving Webb's client was "a consenting sexual encounter between two consenting adults."

  A court spokeswoman could not confirm whether charges had been filed in connection with the recent court case.

  In a separate case, Wurtzel was charged with two felony sexual assault counts in Los Angeles Superior Court last year. He pleaded not guilty to those charges. The case's next court date is April 26.

  The civil suit filed Wednesday demands that Match.com screen its members for sexual predators. The lawsuit asks for a temporary injunction barring the site from signing up more members until Webb's client's demands are met.

  Webb said basic screening would have prevented the attack and revealed Wurtzel's history.

  Match.com attorney Robert Platt said the company can't be expected to screen users.

  "Then you'd have to ask for people's social security numbers, which they don't want to do. And of course you'd have to pass on the cost to the consumer of doing this," he said.

  The company has no liability, he claimed. "There is a provision on the website saying that they're not liable for this, and it lets people know that they're not providing this service and people use it at their own risk."
