everything I believed in was pretty stupid, but what took the cake was when an elder said during a book study that if I licked a bleeding wound on my fingers that meant I was eating blood and therefore sinning and I actually believed it (of course I was only 13).

well Howard Stern said it the other day quite well: you know that something is really wrong with the world when a) the best rapper is a white guy b) the best golfer is a black guy and c) Germany wants peace.

Living a lie?
by Victorian sky ini've been inactive for several months.
i know it's not the truth and mentally i've walked away.
would it be living a lie to remain inactive?

being true to yourself often carries a high price tag. It doesnt matter whether you choose to remain inactive or if you choose to DA, someone somewhere will find a reason to snub you for not meeting their standards. The WTS is full of lies, hypocrisy and phonyness, so this should not come as a surprise. My opinion? I think it's better to DA, just for the peace of mind and closure that it brings. Losing friends and family is rough, but remember, their love is conditional, unlike the love that can be expressed between true friends and by people who are not even related (this board is a good example of that).

Alternative pets?
by DanTheMan inwell, i don't have the most active or exciting life, so i've been thinking about getting a pet to liven things up a little around the homestead.

Hasidem Territory
by Blueblades inrecently jh.asked about bad doors.has anyone had a whole territory of bad doors, such as a whole community of orthodox jews.
the hasidim are members of a sect of jewish mystics that originated in poland in the 18th cent.and that emphasizes joyful worship of an immanent god.
they do not take lightly proselytizing in their community.anyone have any experiences they would like to relate about working these territories.

I never lived in Orange county, but I went to that assembly hall for about 13 years or so. Im from NYC. I now work at a company owned by hasidim, they are nice people, not humorless at all. I love working half-day Fridays!!
