I was invisible too. I was the daughter of a mother with an unbelieving husband and a sister to a brother with an unbelieving father. But I was never the "sister" with an unbelieving father. Just "her."

Are You Still Influenced By The Watchtower Society?
by minimus in.
even if you've been away from jehovah's witnesses for years, do you still find yourself "under the influence"?
-
Soledad
having been a witness, I will always in some way be influenced by their teachings and their most basic morals. all choices that I have made up until this moment have been somewhat influenced by watchtower teachings. Its a part of my life, like it or not. I just have to cope. I have to remind myself almost everyday that the "end" is not almost here, and that I must plan for the future because I dont know exactly how long I will be around for. So, I just deal with it day by day.

June 2003 KM- 'Should Christians Use Slang?'
by Funchback in1 slang has been defined as 'facetious figures of speech'.
when used improperly, it may cause embarassment and confusion to an individual.
it may even stumble those 'who have ears' that listen.yes, prayerful consideration is needed before one lets a word utter forth from his mouth.. 2 it has been said that in nebraska (usa) a male co-worker said to another co-worker that a female co-worker was "drop-dead beautiful".

ok so let me get this straight: slang can make you drop dead of old age, get you named after a stinky
bathroom fixture, and derives from the devil?? WTF????

Did You Put Off Saving For Retirement?
by Shakita ini didn't think that i would ever retire in this system of things.
i felt that long before retirement age the new system would be here and i would have no money worries.
as the years rolled by and i didn't have any thing saved for retirement, i became more and more anxious.

thank goodness I left the WTS when I did. I will be 28 this year but I have an IRA that I contribute to without fail every month. I hope to get a NYC job (even with the layoffs and hiring freezes) soon just so I can take advantage of the good benefits and excellent pension plan!

both sexes! what is your favorite scent-cologne/aftershave/perfume?
by Ravyn ini have always loved perfumes and oils and i have quite a collection that i use as the mood strikes...but i am getting low on many of them and it is time to think about making that birthday gift list sooooooo... what do you wear and what do you like and why?.
my all-time innocent favorite is muguet des bois(lily of the valley)--reminds me of my youth and a cousin who gave it to me as a gift who is passed now.... but i also love the scent of lilac, usually in an oil.. my favorite perfumes are: obsession, rare rubies(avon), coty wild musk, revlon's fire and ice, white shoulders, sand and sable, ck's truth, (and also mesmerize, odyssey, foxfire, jasmine, raining violets, honeysuckle, lemon velvet, hawaiian white ginger--all old classic avon you can only find at flea markets or once a year in the book.).
but i need something new....i like the oriental/spicy blends, but not for all the time.

I like happy by clinique, at least right now. my taste in fragrances change very often, and I shop very frequently at bath and body works.

How Many Here Are DF'd, Disassociated Or Not Worried That They Might?
by minimus ini'm curious as to whether the majority of the board's disfellowshipped.
and i'm curious as to whether or not push came to shove, that you would not be overly distressed if you did wind up getting df'd........as time goes on, i am caring less.

I DA'd in 1998, mainly because I wanted to be left alone (the moment I stopped attending meetings and field service they were on me like hawks!) and I needed closure, to put the past behind me and move forward.
