Dear Chastity
You are blasphemous, rude, caustic and too damn outspoken for your own good.
You are now my best friend
Let me know if you ever get a response to that letter!
does anyone remember that saying from their dub days?
i heard through the family grape vine that is why my marriage is over.....because jehovah was not in it and did not bless it.
it did not upset me them saying this.

i really think those in the writing dept.
should be checked over for dementia or just plain insanity.
here are some highlights from the april 15th wt magazine that i thought you'd enjoy:
Ah yes, imagine falling in love with your job to the point you become one of the top performers in your field,,,,so after a great accomplishment, you drape the american flag on your back and run around the track a few times,,,
oh i forgot,,,the williams sisters are in good standing,,,what was i thinking:)
Brilliant......
were you "disciplined" by the elders (or jehovah god) for anything while in the "truth"??
?
I was very quiet and kept mostly to myself as a JW teen, since our congregation had so many cliques I didn't see the point in making fake friends.....so I was counseled for being "distant and aloof," or for having a seemingly "bad attitude". Never mind that the elderettes and pioneers were total bitches to me----no----I was supposed to kiss their asses regardless.
hidden dangers and accidents - uk
it is not just work machinery, falls from heights or big explosions that cause injuries.
in the uk around 4,000 people die in accidents at home every year, more than the number of people killed on the roads or at work and around 2.7 million a year turn up at accident and emergency departments looking for treatment.
Bras: Two women were killed in London when a bolt of lightning hit the metal under wiring in their bras
Yes this is so true I was damn near electrucuted because of my wires!! I won't go into details......
hey, .
are there any current or ex-graduate students (hopefully graduated :0) on the board?
professional degrees (law, medicine, etc) count too.
I have a BA in Sociology and will be applying for a Teaching fellowship sometime next year.
When I was a Senior in HS, the Awake article came out about persuing a "short" course of study post HS. I was encouraged to only go for an Associates Degree (which I got) and nothing else. Going for a Bachelors wasn't acceptable, but I did it anyway.
i can't sleep, i'm usually up until 2 (or later) every night.......then the alarm goes off at 6:30 and i'm up to start my day.
i find that i'm more alert and productive in the night time, however i am sooo tired of not being able to sleep.
so how about you, night owl or early bird?
I guess I'm both. Regardless of what time I go to bed, I am wide awake at 5am everyday. I function pretty well and I actually like getting up at that hour, but then I get sleepy between 5-7pm, maybe I'll nap, then I'm up again until 12-1 am, wide awake and alert.
I'm wondering how I'll do when I start my new 2nd shift job. I'll be working from 4pm to midnight. I'll probably be dead tired starting around 7 but then wide awake by midnight when it's time to leave .
.
okay, i woke up this morning because i had really bad pain in my left leg ( i jumped out of bed) it was like a cramp but a hundred times worse, i could not even stretch my leg or touch it because it hurt like hell, this was at five am it is now 10 am and it still hurts, i can't even really walk (i'm at work, so i won't have to) this is the fourth time this has happened the pain stays for three to four days and then goes away, any ideas on what it could be and how to make the pain better?.
lola
Go see a doctor Lola. Are you on the pill? There is a risk of developing clots if you are taking those. Be on the lookout for ACHES (abdominal pain, chest pain, severe headaches, eye problems, severe leg pain). I had to stop taking those recently because of leg pain----kind of like what you're describing--- and my eyesight was bugging out. If not, maybe low potassium is the issue. Drink more OJ.
as a teenager, what was your favorite band?
this band can be a local, main stream etc..... my favorite local band was little blue crunchy things, they were from milwaukee, wi.
(even hung out with them)!
Am I the only one here who had almost all radio stations and CD's banned in her household in those delightful JW teenage years?
No you aren't. I was just very skilled at hiding all my cassettes.
i am assuming that the sunday and tuesday services are open to the general public.
do the kingdom halls ever stop someone from coming to these services simply becuase it is known that they dont agree with what is being taught (i.e an 'unbeliever')?
how about if a known 'unbeliever' joins a 'believing' spouse for all the meetings?

No. My father used to attend the Sunday public talk for many years and still to this day he will go to the Memorial every year, but he makes it quite clear that he doesn't believe in any of the Witnesses doctrine and has no intention of ever receiving a bible study. This is 30+ years of him knowing the witnesses and I know of a few others that are like my dad.
.
ok, you went on google and searched for...................
My dad bought me my first computer in 1993. I didn't have a modem so I didn't connect to anything. I just used the PC to play solitaire and some weird DOS game, type homework assignments ( I had Microsoft Works) and keep a journal on floppy disks.
The first time I accessed the internet was in college circa 1998. It was part of a lab assignment for my Sociology of Law class. The professor showed us how to use search engines, such as alta vista and lycos. It just so happens one of the cases we had to research was the 1943 Supreme Court case about the Jehovah's Witness children who refused to salute the flag----I completely forget the name of the case. Typing the word "Jehovah's Witnesses" in the search engine was------I can't describe what that was like. I had been having doubts for about 5 years and at that point was inactive for over 1 year. I then completely tuned out my professor and just keep looking and looking, seeing all this stuff written about the JWs, the big glaring flaws in the doctrine and how in fact they are a cult (which deep in my heart I knew!) I think one of the first sites I found was Support Group for ex-JWs. I went home that same day, connected my old computer to a 14.4K modem that my older sister dumped on me, logged onto MiningCo.com, and the rest was history.
