for never has a woman given Jehovah perfect obedience. But there has been one such man - Jesus Christ. what about his mother? I mean, God did impregnate her, and she didn't utter a single word in protest about it, right? this is where you see that not only is organized religion biased agaisnt women but so are the so-called inspired authors of the bible. clearly man's word, not God's.

QFR: "Never has a woman given Jehovah perfect obedience"
by Inquisitor inquestions from readers w07 jan 15 p.30.
in what sense did the congregator find only "one man out of a thousand" but not "a woman among all these"?
- ecclesiastes 7:28. the answer is written out in 3 paragraphs.. paragraph 1: placatory remarks to show that jehovah god is not chief misogynist.. paragraph 2 & 3:.

Ground Zero. Ugh. Almost 7 years later and there is *still* no decent memorial and the area is stagnant. Mom's and Pop's have lost their leases. Jobs have gone god knows where, and there are signs everywhere advertising the next luxury condo for sale/rent. So that is where all that Federal aid went to........real estate developers.
I'm glad I'm across the Atlantic right now.

New Ex-JW's: Smoking isn't worth it!
by AlmostAtheist init seems that many jw's take up smoking as soon as they leave the watchtower.
the reason is obvious -- they weren't allowed to!
lighting up is like giving the finger to the watchtower.

Yes I agree. Dont start this habit. I quit then start again then quit again then start again. I'm in the middle of the quit but if there are cigarettes near me.......

Clam has a point.
However, the chick deserved what she got. There are a lot of women who try to get over as well.

Wow Synergy I'm speechless. I can't believe how much you had to endure. You were one abused child mama.
For the next couple of days I had not better see a single JW! The urge to get right in their grill would be too great.

Was Anna Nichol Smith a symbol of the wrongs in society?

this woman laid out her life and her body for all to see
and we looked, didn't we? If there was no fortune attached to being who she was, would anyone do it?
I seriously doubt she alone was a "symbol" of the wrongs in our culture. Our culture is f**ked to the core, with or without ANS.

Well if you were to walk into my home where I am right now (Portugal) you would think the place got hit with the bomb. It's my father's old home, where he grew up as a child. There are very high ceilings and walls and stairways that lead to nowhere---the second floor has been knocked down. There are beautiful columns and marble floors. There is a lot of green/grassy areas all around, the remnants of a farm. But of course you will see in the middle of the whole mess my laptop and also some books on a rattan stool. My apt in NYC is very bright and colorful---one of my friends says it reminds him of a Moroccan street market with all the colors and ornaments. I guess the homes would say that I have eccentric and unusal tastes. I still haven't decided how I want to fix up my father's home. I'm going to take a long walk around the city and get a feel for how I should, without making the place look like a museum, as most Portuguese folks I've noticed tend to do!

Its snowing in BRITAIN..........disaster !!!!!!!!
by vitty inwell the uk got 3 inches of snow last night and the country came to a standstill.
schools all round birmingham closed, luton airport closed, people were advised not to take unnecessary journeys whew........................ive lived in a country where it snowed a foot in one night and then continued for days and days and then it stayed for 4 months.
the schools would never shut and the trains and buses (yep the same ones as the uk) kept running, oh and so do the airports !

Hehehe....I saw it on the news this morning. 3 inches of snow and the city is shut down?? Come on!
Where I am right now it doesn't snow
Glad to be away from the US for a while, although I hear NYC hasn't had any snow as yet? I'm shocked.

Was It Easy For You To Leave "The Truth"?
by minimus inwas your life totally disrupted?
did you lose a lot of family and friends?
-
Soledad
Long before my physical exit I was mentally "out" for many many years. I couldn't find a rational explanation for wanting to leave but my intuition was right on when I often felt that something was off with "The Truth." Since I was born and raised in it I didn't know any better. It wasn't all that bad once I made the decision. Of course there was all the drama, threats, blackmail, yada yada.....but I never doubted for a second that I had to do it. I don't have much family in, and once I left my brother did too. Strange how the people who ignored me the most while I was in had the most to say about my "spirituality." Whatever.
