  Question to All!

  i am confused about this board, could someone please clarify?.

  is this board for current active jw's or for former jw's?.

  from posts that i have read there is a very negative attitude.. please help!.

  I haven't been in a kingdom hall in 21-22 years. I was never df'd or da'd. I just simply stopped going. so, If one just stopped going, are they considered "inactive but in good standing" for the record? Is there such a thing as inactive but in bad standing? Would I have to write a letter and send it to the KH in my neighborhood in order to disassociate myself? And if I did, does that effect the "standing" part? gee wiz. all these "ratings" are making my head spin! Here are all the ratings I've seen mentioned:

  I Think That I Chose My Parents.

  do you believe in reincarnation?.

  i dont think i believe in it in the same way that most believers do, which is that we keep coming back in different fleshly bodies until we have achieved perfection.. i do, however, strongly suspect that we may well be spirit creatures who find it necessary to inhabit a fleshly body from time to time, and that this entails us having to leave behind most of our past memories.. i say most memories, because many people seem to have some vestigal recollections that don`t seem to fit in with earthly experiences.. i`m pretty sure that i chose my parents!

  i have a recollection of being shown a young and kind couple through some form of astral telescope and choosing to become their son.

  Are you absolutely SURE you haven't had any beer today?

  I'm an x jw and I don't have any inner powers or the "second sight" you're talking about. I've read very little about reincarnation, so I don't really have an opinion on that theory either.

  Thank you for sharing your story with us. I'm happy that you and your parents are out, but very saddened at the price that you all are paying, at the hands of the WBTS. I pray that someday, your sister will see what she is doing, and "what" she is putting her faith in. My heart goes out for your little neice too. It's astounding to know that the WBTS tell the media and public that disfellowshipping does not sever family ties, when they know that they are lying, and they know that it does. Just look at how many people who post on this board alone who have been severed from their own families! It upsets me greatly. Somebody ought to inform the WBTS of what the definition of the word "sever" is! And then they will turn around and say that the practice of disfellwshipping ( handing one over to satan ) is a "loving" arrangement from God. They have a perverted, distorted view of what "love" is too! When Jesus' judgement day comes, I pray he has mercy on them. They'll need it.

  Thank you for sending me your Tacking article that you are working on too. I read it this morning. Great work so far!

  Thanks, larc and ISP.

  My husband's dad passed away 2 years ago. I don't see anything wrong with men ctying, it's a human emotion. I was just amazed at "what" moves different men to tears. Like I said, when my husband got fired for ma job he had ( that was years ago ), he cried. When he lost his dad, he didn't. That just amazes me.

  Now it's different, he cries for no reason. It could be the "what ifs". He won't say. I've tried getting him to tell his doctor about it, but he refuses to. He won't post here either, larc. he makes fun of me because I do.

  Thanks for posting this subject , ISP. It was interesting to read all the replies.

  My husband never used to cry at all. I had only seen him cry once in 15 years. what I can't figure out about him is that he cried when he got fired from his job, but never cried when his dad passed away. Anyway, that changed. He got depressed when he started nearing the age of 50 and he cries regularly since then. Maybe it's an age thing. I don't know. ( if there are any men who went through this when nearing 50, can you explain it? )I get very uncomfortable when he cries only because I don't know what to say to him. So, I leave the house or go in a different room when he does. that's probably the wrong thing to do, but that's what I do.
