Another Little One.....
by Sentinel injust stopped by to let you know that we now have grandchild #4, two weeks early.
our second grandson, nicholas keith, born jan. 10th in lexington, kentucky, at 12:44pm, weighing 7 lbs.
15oz., and 21 inches, with very light brown hair.. needless to say, we can't wait to see him!

The phrase 'wholesale desires" made me laugh. What the heck are wholesale desires anyway? Cheap desires?I noticed too that the literature being offered this month is all "192 page books published prior to 1988". Are they being told to spread old good news from door-to-door? Are they actually going to ask for donations for it? One major teaching that was still being taught prior to 1988 is that "the bible says that the generation of 1914 will by no means pass away" before armageddon arrives. That was a repetative in most of the liturature. Does anyone out here have or know which books ( even if you know of only a few) were 192 pages and published prior to 1988? Something sounds odd. Why prior to 1988? Why do they want to offer certain old books ?

He has been accused of child molesting but he denies it.
Notice how well the Watchtower Society's "aggressive policy against child molesters" works to protect children in their own congregations?
From the Watctowers media site:
"When any one of Jehovah's Witnesses is accused of an act of child abuse, the local congregation elders are expected to investigate. Two elders meet separately with the accused and the accuser to see what each says on the matter. If the accused denies the charge, the two elders may arrange for him and the victim to restate their position in each other's presence, with elders also there. If during that meeting the accused still denies the charges and there are no others who can substantiate them, the elders cannot take action within the congregation at that time. Why not? As a Bible-based organization, we must adhere to what the Scriptures say, namely, "No single witness should rise up against a man respecting any error or any sin . . . At the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses the matter should stand good." (Deuteronomy 19:15)"
Watchtower followers will continue to follow and adhere to the Watchtower's rules at the cost of how many childrens' lives?

first thing i thought when i heard this is, "oh yes they do, i heard it said from the stage at assemblies"!
well a quick search of their cd-rom brings a host of references to the great "whore".

Even though I'm a whore of of a different sort, this is what the JW on the aol board said that influenced zev to research the subject. I'm quoting what what the JW said...leaving his or her name out for privacy purposes. This JW was accusing a nonJW as having a "penchant" and not telling the truth. This JW was telling the non-JW that he or she was a liar .
Out of the mouth of an active society worshipper who has never paid attention to what the society has fed him or her.
"You seem to have a penchant not telling the truth. Jehovah's Witnesses do not use of the term "Whore" anywhere in their recorded literature dating back over fifty years which tells me that you were never a Jehovah's Witness."

open marriages, anyone have experience?
by Pierced Angel inwell, my husband found out about my affair (yes, i gave in to the temptation with the soccer player and while it was fantastic, it's over now) and it's been a devestating time, we almost got divorced, but we're working through it.
i knew telling friends and this board wasn't going to help me fight his romantic advances, but i tried.
it was a one time thing that would have continued, but i wasn't too careful about the clues (guilty conscience i think).

Thanks for warning others by your painful experience. I can't help but to think about the kids.
I enjoyed meeting you and Pierced Angel. It's too bad things did not work out. But as you said, for that kind of a relationship to work, both partners have to want such a marriage.

I'm really starting to believe they are a (gasp) cult. I was hesitant to use that term because it gets a bit overused (like the word "genius") but really the amount of control they seek to exercise, even over ex-members lives, is ludicrous.
I hesitated for years to use that term too. I thought it was a harsh word. And to this day, I still believe it is if you are talking to a cult member. Cult members never want to hear the word cult. If any word will push them away, that's that word!
So for people I've talked to who I knew were in cults over the years, I've refrained from using the word, even though it is no longer a harsh word to my ears. I don't view that word the same as I used to when I was a member of a cult.

Thank you all for your input and thoughts, and thank you waiting for yours! I'm happy that you'll read it and speak what you think when you read it.
I did notice that the word the society was playing with just to be safe for "outsiders" to read was the word "believers". So somehow, even know this JW tried to avoid telling the truth as far as what the watchtower teaches "believers" to be, I got it out of her/him. She or he is ps83187 in this conversation. Please do not e-mail or give this person a hard time for his/her honesty. Do not e-mail or try and contact the person. If any of you do and mention this, you'll make them more paranoid to speak the truth about the views of watchtower followers.
