after a while, you learn the subtle difference.
between holding a hand and chaining a soul,.

i have been having some pretty irrational thoughts lately.. its only been 3 months since we decided it is not the "truth".
but sometimes i think we (my family) would have been better off if we had stayed inactive witnesses.
the strain affects the whole family.. sometimes it feels like my whole world has fallen apart.
LadyBug,
I found the thread! I missed this or else I would have said something earlier. (the threads move down so fast now, that I miss a LOT of them!)
I'm sorry for the toll this has all taken on you and your family. I can only try to imagine what it must be like. When I left the JWs, I was young too, so I consider myself fortunate that I could see it for what it was back then. I'll echo what people here have already said, that it takes time. Time sure does heal all wounds, even the wounds you feel right now. All your beliefs have been shattered. In time, you'll see that we don't have to know the answers to everything. And really, nobody knows what happens when we die, till we die. And then we can't share the answer with anyone! That kinda sucks, huh? Anyway...please just try to take one day at a time, and try not to be so hard on yourself for not knowing all the answers. For nobody knows all the answers anyway. You have support here. The inernet is a wonderful thing. I wish it were around when I was going through the same thing you are right now. Somehow, I got through it. But I'll repeat that it takes time. I didn't know if I belived there was a God for years. And i didn't understand what spirituality was for years either.
Hang in there.

~~~Wishful thinking makes the world go 'round.~~~
the first survey i asked how you were brought into the non-truth.
my next survey is along the same line, however what i would like to find out is on the average how many hours you spent in the field service and were you ever able to bring anyone into the non-truth via field service or via incidental witnessing.. and how long you were associated with the borg?.
thank you in advance for your input.
I don't recall how many hours I spent in service. It was too long ago to remember,so I can't help there.
I was in the borg for 10 years.
I had zero converts.
i am against official censorship.
i feel it is each individuals responsibility to walk away from groups that you find offensive.
although i am an a-theist i am not a-moral.. in greek mythology you have prometheus and epimetheus.
Proplog2! You can't leave!.... Dammit! I was just begining to learn about controling male agression...... finding a success object to make a haven with, (skipping right over the getting "knocked up" or the child rearing part)...... how to avoid recipies for boredom......how to find excitement in life ( such as pursuing a new sex partner), how to pit one man against another..... how to keep up the perpetual seeking of males...... that sperm is cheap....... That I don't need eggs, because males are always ready ( I can always lie and say that I have eggs)....... that monogamy controls female agression....... that if I have grown kids and a lot of property, then I don't need to get remarried.....that males have a "poker" and want nothing more than something to poke......and that life is all about the pleasures you get filling tubes and emptying tubes. (not that I've ever filled any tubes)
Well, if you must leave, I thank you for the lessons learned. If there is one thing you said that I agree with, it's this comment that you made once:
Everything you attach the word sex to is not necessarily "sex".
I wish you well, and all the best to ya. I'll kinda sorta miss you.
P S....We have great buildings, technology, music, because women are bored too.
after reading thirdson's post on sin and mercy... the watchtower way, i was wondering how a disfellowshipped person is able to prove to the elders that they are repentant.
considering that it's not a biblical command to confess out sins to elders, nor to have to prove to them we are repentant, but rather it's a command of the wbts to it's followers, i was appauled to read the following in the flock "book of rules" written by the wbts for the elders to follow.. .
"how funeral arrangements for a disfellowshipped person .
Thank you for replies.
chipster,
btw, there is life after DF'g. there is also life after divorce...and, yes, there is also life after alcohol...
Sounds like it's been a rough road for you. Is your story posted on the board anywhere?
Pork Chop,
If you reinstate someone after less than six months you get a nasty letter from the Service Desk asking why you disfellowshipped them in the first place.
Can you elaborate on that? Are you speaking from experience? I find it amazing that there actually is a time limit to prove repentance afterall. I'll say more about that at a later date.
ok, perhaps you may think i have lost it, but i got to thinking of how everyone seems to dwell on the negative aspect of being a jw.
how about a positive approach?
while i never plan to ever be a jw again i can recall some positives that happened along the way, here are a few that come to mind:.
<------ Still trying to think of at least one positive thing I learned from being a JW. I can't say that there was anything positive at all about it.
i wish to conduct a legitimate poll, or at least as legitimate as it can get on this forum.
unless you are or were a jw, please do not respond or make comments.
please simply give an answer, without extended comments.
anybody who studies the christian religion and in particular the fundamentalist part, will soon discover how important the devil is.
he comes in handy in all kinds of situations.
when a fundamentalist is cornered and unable to answer questions he can always accuse his opponent of being an agent of the devil.
teejay,
I have the article you're speaking about. Would you like me to e-mail it to you? There is a lot of intersting spiritual doo-doo in the article. Even about the anointed.
Here is just one quote from the article:
Jesus is the one who is appointed to render judgment. It is not for us to determine who are sheep and who are goats.
Just say the word if you want the article.
