I was reading the obituary for Mike Seidler. I remember seeing him on occasion many years ago. Absolute gentleman. His wife Dodie was a dragon however. She was blunt and arrogant. Many people hated Dodie but loved Mike more. Seeing the comment section on the obituary made me realise how well loved some of the "best" men were. Didn't realise he moved back to England. It almost frightened me to see the JW smile on that evil face of Dodie!

Who Was The Biggest Jackass Circuit Overseer You Ever Met?

there was on older white-haired circuit overseer in houston around 1989 or 1990. last name started with a w i think.... not sure though.

even the most brain-dead robotic elders told me he was offensive.

UK Circuit Overseers who were jackasses, hmm. I have a long list. I've been to many parts of England so I'm well aware of the names and characters of many Circuit Overseers. Some listed are dead, very few are alive today.

Most arrogant:

Alan Stokes (a face you would want to throw up to)

Ian Thomasson (shouldn't have been a CO)

Jonathan Hepworth (high and mighty with a veneer of "humility")

John Carruthers (just an annoying man)

John Stanbridge (an old fart who was as dry and evil as can be)

Philip Rose (control freak and a fat lard of a CO who demanded dessert at lunch breaks)

Henry Devaston (devastating man!!)

Jim Cleary (elders always feared his arrival)

Roddy Holyoake (closeted gay with a fiery temper, whose wife back in the day was an absolute blonde bombshell, too good for him. All the young lads drooled over Mrs CO!)

Colin Seymour (a dry CO with a desire for power over the elder bodies!)

Peter Nichols (one of the old-school COs who wouldn't take no for an answer!)

Paul Rimmington (a robotic drone, marginally pleasant but dry and annoying. Treats the elders like crap, loves the pioneers more and makes sure you know who's boss.)

Slightly arrogant:

Dean Whittaker (Nice enough guy, just controlled by his arsehole wife Debbie who should never have been a CO wife, the least spiritual and condescending CO wife I have ever met)

Colin Conradie (little Hitler)

John Hobden (all eyes on you)

Keith Gaydon (rubbish jokes and stirred up elders at elders meetings)

Anton Irons (cardboard cutout of an old-school CO from the 1960s)

Mike Purbrick (one of the most hated COs!)

Paul Presland

Colin Bird (annoying Northern guy, now disfellowshipped and divorced living with another woman, and a little obsessed with sex)

Phil Appleby (thought too much about himself and his voice)

Mike Spurr (loved all the attention)

Chris Jolly (not as jolly as his surname sounds!)

Anthony Manning (publicly reproved, not sure what for)

Dennis Dutton (full of himself and all the cream cakes)

Average likeable company men:

Ted Wright (lovely gentleman and excellent speaker, had a way with words)

Justin Shaw (a nice guy with a cheesy sense humour)

Clive Upton (a decent guy)

D.? Garrod (a well-mannered bloke)

Mike Seidler (absolutely beautiful human being, a true Christian unlike many other COs of his time, however Dodie his wife was an absolute dragon, most sisters dreaded working woth her on the ministry. The personalities of both didn't match, poor chap. Heard he died recently)

There may be more I can't think of from the top of my head. Only 4 I've mentioned were actually my CO in my circuit, to conceal my identity.

Any way we can create a website to expose UK JW sex offenders in one place?

you read my title correctly.. i was wondering if some of us could get together to create a website linking each town and city in the uk to every news report of a jw sex offender, as well as additional anecdotes from abuse victims of criminals who never made it to the papers.. this project would be a massive undertaking and would require much time and effort, of which i'm willing to either lead or be a part of, ensuring transparency and avoiding our exposure if we are pimo.

such a website would be an invaluable tool and would complement silentlambs very well.

any thoughts?.

It makes me question which other health scandals will come to light in the decades to come. I'm fascinated by this news and I'm following the details now.

The Dedication program for congregations was heavily edited.

On Sunday, the Watchtower Summary was taken by Peter Bell.

Then some new guy interviewed a Branch committee member and summarised the whole Saturday Dedication in 20 minutes, which I'm sure was a rub in the sores of poor JWs who weren't "privileged" to attend Saturday, they only got to see one small clip of Kenneth Cook dedicating thr facilities.

Then there were more branch reports. Stephen Hardy took the Britain branch reports and still goes along the rhetoric that most increase in the Britain branch territory is from immigrants. That's not entirely true. The British are still part of the main flow coming in, albeit mainly previously inactive, disfellowshipped or children of JWs.

Then the final talk wasn't the dedication talk. It was an entirely different talk by Kenneth Cook about counting your blessings. Compared to Saturdays largely positive program, Kenneth saved the harsh counsel for Sunday.

"You may think they've been in the truth for decades, how could they do something like this?

Well, a perfect set of teeth can still bite your tongue"

And he left it at that. Whilst the mindless drones laughed, I thought wow how passive aggressive of him! No consideration to the fact that these "faithful ones" may indeed become unfaithful and merit discipline themselves?

Also, a pathetic illustration was given about a farmer kicking a nest on the ground every time he saw it on his morning walk.

Then one day he looked up and saw the bird had begun building the nest in a tree.

He said "I'm so glad that little bird is now finally protected from the cat".

Same reaction from everyone.

So I was fuming and thinking why the absolute hell would he kick the nest anyway?! What a moron! In this country, birds nests are protected by law. His point was "how did you view the farmer at the beginning? We don't always see the bigger picture of things until we give things time". It still didn't explain the point to me, I was convinced that this farmer was still the village idiot.

Then after many cherry picked blessings he mentioned, Kenneth gave counsel about going to extremes with personal hobbies and entertainment, saying that these could distract us from the ministry. The emphasis was on this: as long as the people are faithful, then the dedicated buildings would only be as good as the people in it. Living next door to a bank doesn't automatically make you rich, Kenneth said the day before, and drawing this home again, he said that we want spiritually mature men and women to serve.

It seems this was a passive aggressive attempt at counselling the British for their irreligious lifestyle. In some ways I agree, the British now are mainly godless in society, however I feel he could have been more open about this to bring the point across rather than delicately embarrassing certain groups.

The dedication programme today was designed for Bethelites, special full time servants and any who had a share on the Britain construction project, as well as former Bethelites. Some exceptions were invited, if you were married to someone in recent years who didn't have a share in bethel or the project.

The programme tomorrow is meant to be a consolidated version of the programme to benefit the brothers on a congregation level - firstly with a summary of the Watchtower (which was not part of today's programme) and then items that cover aspects of the dedication. It's rumoured that Kenneth Cook's talk will be re-broadcasted at the end, but we will see what unfolds. Every branch dedication has the same style of programme - a "worker friendly" version on the Saturday, then a "congregation friendly" version on the Sunday. Enjoy, if you can!

For a Branch Dedication, the meeting was actually very interesting. The talk History of the work in Britain was very well covered, and they couldn't make it more obvious that the London Tabernacle at Craven Terrace (the first kingdom hall in England) was a Congregationalist church refurbished and dedicated to God for the ibsa movement at the time. There were even 3-D models bringing this all to life, this alongside personal accounts of older ones including sister Gooch (wife to the late Governing Body member) were very insightful even from an exjw perspective. Hopefully much of what was seen at this inside meeting will be more openly shown at the Sunday broadcast for all congregations in the United Kingdom. Of course, we are all at various levels of being mentally out. But I hope even the most critical of us find the historical part at least the most insightful and helpful in understanding how this Organization came to be in Britain.

It was of interest to note that both Geoffrey Jackson and Mark Sanderson in their prayers asked Jehovah to forgive them all for any mistakes they make as they do every day. Either a sign of culpability or humility? You decide.

Four Governing Body members are currently at Chelmsford: Kenneth Cook, Geoffrey Jackson, Gerrit Lösch and Mark Sanderson. Geoffrey said the opening prayer and Mark said closing prayer. It seems that Gerrit has also grown a beard now.

2. Special Meeting in Connection with the Branch Dedication: We are happy to provide the details to connect to the special meeting on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Congregations will be able to log in to the event from 8:30 a.m. (BST) and the programme will start at 9:30 a.m. (BST). The programme will last approximately 3 hours. A recording will be available from 1:30 p.m. (BST) throughout the weekend. Please note that prayers will not be included in the recording.

3. Non-English congregations can make local arrangements for interpretation. However, British Sign Language interpretation will be provided for deaf publishers, and a recording made available. Please note that the programme should not be downloaded or recorded locally.

Before the Sunday program, all assembly halls and other facilities in the UK are streaming a live dedication program at 1pm BST today, which is coming directly from the new facilities outside Chelmsford.

I can confirm the details of the special tours are all correct. Bethelites have been dressing up in ancient clothing. One particular ridiculous sight was the Tudor marketplace setup where a 'bible smuggler' was being chased by two guards shouting at them for realistic acting purposes. Of course, the ones on tours were brainlessly laughing at the sight, however for those of us observing Bethelites acting in a childish and pathetic way helps us reinforce the truth about the truth, it's a cult!!!!

Every department was visited, even the legal department albeit in a very brief manner.
