Another post ringing true ... in the Western world, we all too often lose sight and take for granted what we have. Think too of how fortunate we are to have learned English from infancy, the predominant language of the Western world, and have all these opportunities in front of us for the taking. No matter how bad we think we may have it from time to time, there are literally billions around the world that would trade places with us in a heartbeat.

Today's Funny ...
The Lost Chapter of Genesis
Adam was hanging around the Garden of Eden feeling very lonely. So God asked him, "What's wrong with you?"
Adam said he didn't have anyone to talk to.
God then said He can make Adam a companion, and that it would be called a woman. He said, "This pretty lady will gather food for you, she will cook for you, and when you discover clothing, she will wash it for you. She will always agree with every decision you make and she will not nag you and will always be the first to admit she was wrong when you've had a disagreement. She will praise you! She will bear your children and never ask you to get up in the middle of the night to take care of them. She will never have a headache and will freely give you love and passion whenever you need it."
Adam asked God, "What will a woman like this cost?"
God replied, "An arm and a leg."
After making an assessment of what he has on him, Adam asked, "What can I get for a rib?"
Of course, the rest is history....

Taxation of Religious businesses
by D wiltshire inwhy should a religion be granted tax exemptions for its money making endevors?.
if they are making money through donations they should have to show where the money is going and to get exemptions by offering proof that the money thus is being used in a charitable way(feeding the poor etc...).. i feel it is only proper for them to pay property tax, unless they can show that the property is used more than 50% of the time for the benifit of charity free from the religious goals of gaining more members, thus more income.
when religion grows weathy at the taxpayers expence, a massing buildings lavishly decorated should be taxed for such weath.. perhaps i'm wrong but should not all be under the same law, reguardless of whether it is religion or just a person without religion.

I have always felt religion should be taxed just the same as any other business. They can take deductions for their charitable endeavours.

WT Fortifies Its Firewall
by belbab ina friend asked me to accompany him to the district assembly held this past weekend in our area.
in the talk at 11:40 am sunday, entitled be like jeremiah--fearlessly proclaim the word of god, as others have posted on this board, a reference was made about the dateline program, but no specifics were given.. from the meagre notes and memory, i will try and paraphrase the argument the speaker read from his pre-packaged discourse.
he quoted the text from 1john 5:19, ....the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.

Why Ex-JWs Will Never Go From Door to Door
by comforter injehovah's witnesses proclaim the good news of the kingdom under the power of god's holy spirit.
jesus commanded his followers to preach in the most distant parts of the earth and promised them that the spirit of god would guide them in this life-saving work (acts 1:8).. without the spirit of god, one cannot continue preaching about jesus and god's kingdom (matthew 24:14).
one surely will not have god's spirit if one preaches a negative message (against jehovah's servants) from door to door.

Just look at what happened to Ray Franz and Ed Dunlap. Ray had forty years full time service to his Cult. Ed was 69 when he was booted out and had about as many or more years full-time service. Any humane corporation would still provide pensions for such long-time employees, even if they were fired. The WTS is not a human organization. It is a thoroughly evil and selfish organization who could not care less about ruining individual lives when it affects their financial bottom line.
I remember reading in Ray Franz' Crisis of Conscience book that the Society gave him either $10,000 or $15,000 (I don't remember which) when he left to cover his expenses. That doesn't seem like a lot of money at all for 40+ years of service.

The game was superb, and also living in "Northen Mexico, i.e. Los Angeles," I know the Mexicans here feel so outraged that USA won when 95% of the country doesn't even care about soccer. However, I heard the Mexicans were very poor sports and walked off the field rather than do the traditional exchanging of shirts with their opponents, the Americans.

Clearing Things Up
by mindfield inno, this isn't another childish photoshop prank.. in the past day(s), probably many of you have noticed the facility that i had to lash out unnecessarily at other people.
i've insulted people who came to support me, i've embarassed myself, gone into arguments that i couldn't win, made a pretty flagrant face-about, and generally, made an ass of myself.
and for that i'm sorry.. to tell the truth, the last day (s) has/ve been a nightmare of sorts.

Mindfield,
I think you're a pretty cool guy, especially when you consider you're only 18. I think you're pretty mature in a lot of ways, and you remind me of myself when I was younger. But guess what, when you get older, you'll relish those times when you were younger ... bottom line, don't sweat it so much and just enjoy yourself. Don't be in a great hurry to be "one of the older guys."
Sorry to hear you've had a couple of rough days. They'll pass and with them will go the pain and sadness. Time heals everything.
Take care,
Bill
