GOING DOWN TO THE WIRE
by You Know inthings are gettn interestinger and interestinger every day.
on the international scene any number of scenarios can serve as triggers to set off wwiii, or the tribulation, whatever you may prefer to call it.
the next cross-border atrocity by rogue militants could easily detonate a conflagration between nuclear-poised india and pakistan.

I have a question for you, YouKnow. You wrote:
So, there's simply no such thing as a faithful Christian apart from God's congregation. You are just fooling yourself if you think you can have a stand alone relationship with Jehovah apart from those who are similarly devoted to God. It doesn't work that way.
What is your personal situation? I'm seem to believe you have not been going to the meetings at the local hall for quite some time because you have disagreements with the organization. if so, do you meet with similar-minded folks? Do you go to a different church?

JW's (again) dodge the question.....
by TheApostleAK inq is the organization a direct channel between god and humanity?
a again, our governing body has never claimed that our organization is inspired or infallible.
instead they, our governing body, study the bible diligently and through prayer they make a request for his holy spirit to direct them and be upon them.

How would some of you respond if a current JW disdains some of your quotes from Watchtower materials dating back to the 30s, 40s, 50s, etc? In other words, some of this material is over 50 years old and supposedly much new "light" has been received since then?
Just curious ...

by crownboy in(wow, simon, did you steal microsoft word software or something?
well, today i did something that in most years past i would have believed would have resulted in me being struck by lightning; i attended a religious service other than the jw's.

Thanks to those who pointed out www.beliefnet.com ... a most fascinating website. I took the "What is your Spirtual Type" test and was not surprised by the outcome:
You scored 51, on a scale of 0 to 100. Here's how to interpret your score:
25 - 29 Hardcore Skeptic -- but interested or you wouldn't be here!
30 - 39 Spiritual Dabbler -- Open to spiritual matters but far from impressed
40 - 49 Active Spiritual Seeker Spiritual but turned off by organized religion
50 - 59 Spiritual Straddler One foot in traditional religion, one foot in free-form spirituality
60 - 69 Old-fashioned Seeker -- Happy with my religion but searching for the right expression of it
70 - 79 Questioning Believer You have doubts about the particulars but not the Big Stuff
80 - 89 Confident Believer You have little doubt youve found the right path
90 - 100 Candidate for Clergy
I also took the "What is your Faith" test and was shocked by the outcome:
I have no idea what "Sikhism" is but need to look further because I'm a 100% match! And Reform Judaism? Wow, 99% ... I would have never guessed! Sadly, Jehovah's Witnesses was #26 out of #27. ;)1. Sikhism(100%)
2. Reform Judaism(99%)
3. Unitarian Universalism(95%)
4. Liberal Quakers(87%)
5. Bah' Faith(85%)
6. Neo-Pagan(85%)

Is this policy in writing anywhere?
by Mulan inmy mother and i have been continually discussing the pedophile issue, and the dateline show.
she insists that there is no official policy of going to the elders first, when this situation occurs in a family.
she said she feels it is a family matter, and she personally, would go to the police first, and let them handle it.

Obiwan,
Other posts by Mulan indicate that, while she is no longer an active Witness, her 90-yr old mother still is. Mulan and her mother have many great ideological discussions about JW-related things. Mulan and her mother have been debating the Dateline issue.

Catholic Priests are allowed to molest one child
by StinkyPantz inbut if they molest two they are forced to resign.
did anyone else read this crap?
for every one child he gets caught molesting, there's probably another fifteen more that never get reported.

The Los Angeles diocese has taken it one step further. They ran a full-page ad in the LA Times whereby Cardinal Mahoney indicated that the Los Angeles diocese will have a zero-tolerance policy. A single instance will mean a priest will be defrocked. They are also doing background checks and fingerprints on any new priests.

You'll have to cut and paste the link into your browser.

Mr & Mrs Ozzie,
How sad to hear about this ... what I don't understand is that since the Society discourages its people from anything other than trade school or two year college, going to the University for four years surely this doesn't follow the rules. How is your daughter able to reconcile following one set of rules and not the others?
This is so sad,

Get rich Quick Dubs
by OUTLAW indubs are always looking for an angle to make money.their probably no worse than anybody else, but they do like to preach against materialism while chasing the illusive dollar.alot of times its some form of pyramid scheme.amway for one,or the triple charge system(owned and operated by some dubs from califonia)then theres the out and out pyramid scheme.you bring in people who give the pyramid $500.00,after bringing in so many people the guy at the top get`s a $17,000.00 payout, and is free to start again at the bottem of the pyramid.i`ve known a few dubs who have collected their 17grand.the pyramid eventually burns out,and the people at the bottem are left holding the bag(no payout).they lose the money they couldn`t afford to spend to begin with.there are some dubs though, that make a good living at this.what are some of the get rich schemes you`ve witnessed(pun intended)in dubland?...outlaw

Man, this brought back memories ... I remember the iridology craze, the multi-level marketing scams, the vitamins, Amway, Shaklee, gee whiz, all of it! I just loved hearing the justifications for why it was okay to do these business deals with our brothers and sisters ... and I remember having to stand my ground firmly when my relatives were trying to get me to participate (their downstream).

If you download the Dateline pictures from the silentlambs.com web site, the file name is dateline.txt. However, it will not open properly unless you change the file name from dateline.txt to dateline.zip. Then you can open it to see the pictures inside.
