I can't wait until 2008! I will be so happy to get rid of Bush. Jimmy Carter must be a happy ex-president because he will not be known as the worst President in US history, Bush has taken that spot. I like OBAMA and Giuliani, no more Clintons please go away, we need someone fresh and articulate who cares for people and SMART and get us out of this war mess! There is some much to say I'll stop right here.....

Do you support gay marriage?
by chappy inis your belief moral, social or practical?
would you feel the same way if there were absolutely no religious influence on the matter pro or con?.
regardless of your belief, does every adult have a fundimental right to marry anyone of his or her choosing, regardless of gender?.
-
Spartacus
No but I think civil unions are fine. Marriage can only be male and female. Call it something else and shoot for civil unions and stay out of heteral sexuals definitions, make your own type of union for gays. jmho

What's the best way to FADE away from the JW's?
by JH inwhat do you think is the best way to fade away from the jw org, without being df'd and without being bothered by them?.
just stop going and not answer their calls?.
change congregation, and never show up?.

Change congregation, and never show up? But you have to attend the new congregation to request your records to transfer to the new congregation. Once that happens stop attending. Also it is better if you join a congrgation that speaks a different language, the elders tend to not bother with you if you don't speak the same language. That is what we did and it worked like a charm. I was an elder with many responsibilities and manage to faaaade away in 96. :) Life is good!

72% Voter Turnout in Iraq
by Elsewhere inthe voter turnout for the 2004 us presidential election was 60.7% (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/a10492-2005jan14.html).
despite being threatened by terrorists, iraq's voter turnout was much greater than the last us voter turnout!
i'd say it was a far greater success than expected!

Historic and great news for the Iraqi people! I think with this first election behind them the Iraqi people can start to put the Saddam regime behind them and look forward to holding government accountable to the people, which is a difficult thing to do but is the only style of government that makes sense. Out of the 22 countries in the Arab League not one of them is a democracy, all are dictatorships, Iraq would be the first Islamic country in that region to become a democracy. I hope for the sake of the world that the Iraqi people are successful, in doing so other regimes in the area would be under pressure to give in to the will of their peoples over the long haul.

Bush failure or stable Iraq?
by Spartacus inwould you rather see bush fail or a stable society for the iraqi people?
do anyone hate bush or america so much that you would rather see military failure which will mean more death and carnage for the iraqi people and the us/allied military?
or would you like to see a bush/allied military success, giving the iraqi people a chance to govern themselves toward a stable democratic society?

hmm, John Kerry was in the Navy and I heard that Teresa kicked him out because she wasn't going to continue to subsidize his idiocy unless he put her in the White House.
LOL xenawarrior Kerry is a kept man and needs to earn it.
You're missing the point. If Bush is this "monster" why is the OTHER Hillary trying to be like him? Why is it whenever I see her on the news she's making some comment about "God this" of "God that". She's even going out of her way to tone down her abortion stance. Why????? Are the leading democrats so desperate to get into the White House that they'll become the monster they hate in order to beat him??
Yeah roybatty
Don't underestimate Hillary she has 3 years to change her image but I don't think the people who don't trust her now will be fooled later but she is going to really try for 2008. She is real socialist who is trying to move toward the center. Meanwhile Bush is trying to put in place his vision of Ownership Society, the antithesis of government socialism, number one on that agenda is to make home ownership much easier for the low income and poor.
BTW, Bush recently met with the African American Caucus, US Congressional Black Caucus and with a group of Conservative African Americans. Listening to NPR in my truck on my way in to work this morning I was very surprised how positive black leaders were after meeting with him. Blacks are very frustrated with Democrats and want results not rhetoric and it appears Bush have a chance to impress. The one thing I heard repeatedly, they may not like Bush very much but they do know one thing about him, if he says he is going to do something they know that he will give it a real effort to make it happen and in a timely fashion. Unlike Democrats when in power do nothing but give lip service. So I'm hoping the Democrats will take note and start to address some of the real problems of this country we need both parties actively doing the right things. If Bush make real inroads with his ownership society vision he shared with them and then the Black community see some political action regarding issues it cares about then the Democrats will certainly be behind the 8 ball.
He is meeting soon with a national organization of Black pastors pushing his Faith Base Initiatives.

That is good news and we need more inclusive political parties. Thanks for the info. My daughter and I was in London March 2003 and I was treated very well. People bought me and I bought them plenty of pints of beer. That stuff is strong and taste great, LOL :) During my stay the US/UK military was fast tracking into Southern Iraq and Baghdad and we were glued to the TV watching Sky News. I was really impressed with London and I still carry my Tube pass in my wallet I took plenty of pictures and I saw protesters of the war nearly each day I was there :D
Good luck to you all and I wish nothing but the best to you across the pond.

6of9 perhaps he would have made a great President but we will never know will we, why? Bush with all his faults and screw ups Kerry could not convince America that he was the right man. I tell you the proof is in the pudding, he failed against a man who America was ready to vote out but Kerry was viewed as a worse choice than Bush, now how is that possible? Kerry is just that sorry for the simple answer. Kerry is the one who came back from Vietnam, betrayed his military brothers, and falsely implicated them in war atrocities. Yeah, you want a President who said he personally killed innocent women and children, burned down villages, and tortured innocent people, that is a bunch of BS if I never heard it. He is lucky that one of those guys did not knock his teeth out for that.
The Democrats have let us down by putting up such a sorry man up for election who did not accomplished one thing in his 20 years as a Senator, as I said before his Senate record was so sorry he had to rely on his very questionable war record. The Democrats will pay a long term penalty for that which not a good thing, America needs another choice other than Republicans.
Kerry grew up rich who had everything laid out on a silver platter for him. Many people from his social class thought there were too good to fight in a war, just like Bush he ducked too. The man is of poor character period, he could not even beat Bush. Hell I could have beat Bush! We don't need his type running anything, his type need to spend his money and stay the hell out the way. The Senate needs real men, not those who never had to wipe their own arses how can anyone build character of leaders if they never had to strain and work for anything during their formative years, he was protected and coddled like a little bitch.
Ted Kennedy is another one, he needs to get the hell out of the way and let someone else have that spot, neither one of them would have a original thought if they were on acid!
OK? If Kerry is your political star, then more power to you, God speed to ya.
