Our Kindom Ministry...it's a couple of sheets of strange-feeling paper folded together that are distributed to witnesses in good standing every month. It has publisher statistics, help on how to place magazines...news about new publications, schedules for the book studies, the yearly instructions about district conventions...etc.

happy witnesses?

what i noticed is that the witnesses seem to be very happy people.
is that true or just a fassade?

They're not. Look at the kids tugging on their parents' arms. They want to get the hell out of there. If you're just observing you might think they're all happy, but you don't know what all is going on. For instance, you don't know all the people that are at odds with each other and are just being friendly to each other because it's "scriptual" to do so...there were a lot of jerks and people I did not like at all in our kingdom hall, but we still had to make the impression that we liked them.

preventing baptism of minors
by og inhere is the situation: my wife is a very faithful true believer (and a wonderful person, i will add, who really wants to do what's right) i have been da'd about a year, and we have 2 children.
our oldest is 13, and really buys into the witness line ( as, of course, i professed to until last summer) and i am fairly sure she is considering baptism.
here is my question: as one half of her parents, is there any legal doctrine that would allow me to prevent her baptism until she is 18?

my parents were in a similar situation with my oldest sister. She wanted to be baptized when she was fairly young, but my parents (my mom is a witness) knew that she was too young to realize what she was doing. The elders didn't listen to my parents pleas at all, and allowed my sister to get baptized. My sister is now disfellowshipped and my dad resents what the elders did to this day.

by D8TA inrecently within the past 30 days, i have had the most odd experiences with teens (16-18).
i'm 30. i'm male (doesn't this mean i'm supposed to be "19" for the rest of my life -according to some women?
) some of the incidents which occured totally blows my mind.

definitely...it's really sad actually. The kids never think about the consequences of their actions, or how it might affect others. They only care about themselves...everything's a big game to them. It's all about cussing, drinking, doing drugs, and partying. Responsibility? What's that?

lucidsky: I'm able to do that...for instance, realizing that while under water, I can breathe. I used to try to do things with my eyes while dreaming, that would cause me to skip to another dream. One time in my dream I did it, and nothing happened, but the person I was talking to in my dream asked me what the heck I was doing :P Kinda freaky.

how often have i confronted jws with overwhelming evidence that the so called signs of the times are simply not being fulfilled in our day only for them to bring up some barely relevant snippet of information, which, to them, shoots my argument down in flames?
it is incredible how jws can ignore the camel of evidence that contradicts what they believe and then exult over the gnat of evidence that supports their view.

Modern day slavery.
by Hyghlandyr inwe had a post going recently about slave reparations in the united states.
it led to some pretty heated and interesting discusions from all sides.
at one point i pointed out that more people are enslaved today than at any time in history (twenty seven million).

I believe it's even worse than that shimmer. Wasn't there things on the news about how there's all sorts of militia groups over there in Africa...people getting shot over diamonds, which DeBeers mainly controls. They got in some trouble some time ago, at which point they had to put notices on their invoices or something about the bad things they were doing.
