it's also horribly insecure :-P the worst thing for a company to do is claim their software is "uncrackable", like oracle did. I think the total number of holes found in their software since that claim is over 10 now :)

there was an elder and his wife that invited us over for dinner once. The wife could play the guitar, so we told her to play something...I was eager to see what she would play. Figures she got out the songbook and started singing and playing the guitar to the songs!! it was horrible !!!! :(

haha...i remember reading some of the stuff the org wrote about video games. Go look in your indexes/cds and you'll see what I'm talking about. In the 80's they wrote about "violent video games" giving examples of kids obsessed about arcade games. satan satan!!! You know what game they vividly described in the article, without giving its name? CENTIPEDE. Yes, Satan is going to control you if you play a silly 4-bit game where you shoot something representing a cannon at something that resembles a centipede.

GOSSIP In the Kingdom Hall

every meeting, every day of field service, and every gathering was plagued with vicious rumors that people told to keep themselves entertained.
surprisingly, the pioneers and elder's wives were the worst of everyone.

they told us at an assembly that watching pg13 movies was not a conscience matter...they said that several times actually. They said we were not to watch shows like cosby or home improvement where the father figure acts silly. We were given specific names of songs we weren't to listen to. They even said there was classical (instrumental) songs we weren't allowed to listen to!!

Good for you! My dad quit smoking about a year ago too...went cold turkey just like you. He was grumpy and irritant for about a week or two, but now he's very glad he quit...i think it's the best thing he's done. Cancer is no fun.

I think it depends on where you live. Everyone in the borg says that the further you are away from Bethel, the stranger the halls and their practices get. I hear it's a joke in places like California. I know here in PA we used to take breaks at actual restaraunts...like an hour break! They weren't so much into breaks in Maryland though.
