I agree AlanF. I would be upset if it was dirty talking, but I most certainly would (and have) dumped gfs who went the extra step in that regard.

keep us posted on your progress, and hey mate, i think it fair that when you receive the 50 grand, you give simon the ol' yidish 10 % of it, seeing it came through his forum.. godspeed in your work my son !

lorentz transformations seemed pretty concrete to me. There have been many experiments proving it to be true. In fact, a nobel prize winner is visiting here at Bucknell shortly to talk about just that.

No windows on Kingdom Halls?
by just_a_girl ini just read a post on another site i belong to (non-jw related) where a person asked if anyone knew why jws do not have windows on their kingdom halls.
a few other people responded saying that they had noticed the same thing, that they thought it was b/c the jws believe that windows are just an adornment, hence a distraction?.
in my 20+ years of being a jw and attending quick builds, i never noticed this ... it never even dawned on me ... and now that i try to think back, i can't remember there being any windows at the khs i attended?.

The couple I visited in Maine were very recently built...sometime in the 90's. Very pretty inside..nicer than a lot I've seen in other places.

that's incorrect. It's simply a safety precaution, since lots of people like to bash in windows when there are some. In maryland there were bomb threats and such to the halls as well. However, if you go to Maine, all the halls there have windows.

Who's Greg Stafford
by Room 215 indoes anyone know greg personally?.
i'm intrigued by the comments made regarding the recent release of his dissertations, and can't help but adimre him for the nobility of his intent.
it seems to me he's a victim of the delusion that the beliefs of jws are intellectually defensible and can withstand the test of empiricism and hard, objective scrutiny.. i can't help but wonder how he's regarded by his peers in the local congregation, the local elders ad circuit overseer whether he holds any jw office (elder, ministerial servant, etc), whether he gives lectures, parts on the meeting, etc.

exactly, gopher. Xenu's trying to compare apples and oranges here. Jesus didn't live in America. The lands he lived in had governments and rights far different than what we have today. You can't compare jobs directly, because back then markets were completely different. I'll even say this...the number of people that are witnesses working in window washing is in direct relation to the witnesses viewpoint on higher education. Sure, for the stupid people, window washing is probably more their thing...some people like working with their hands, and that's perfectly fine. My dad is a master plumber, and built our two story house in Maryland by himself. I think anybody that can do that has incredible skill. The point is we all have our own special talents, and in a country that allows you to fulfill your dreams, why waste the rest of your life doing something as pointless and meaningless as washing windows, especially if you have the education and desire to do something greater?

don't be silly. Since when in Jesus' day was there a computer science field? Since when was there Electrical engineering? Since when was there any engineering at all? Face it, you were either going to own something, sell food, grow food, or build places. My point was that these people had skill that could be better used elsewhere, and they all chose to do window washing...when there's over 100 people doing it in one small area, I'd say something wrong there.

Can any Witness possibly anwser this question?
by jerome inhello all... i came across this line of questioning many months on the inet so i decided that i would submit just this once to peer pressure and make a usefull contribution to the board.. here is the question... is jesus just "a god?".
many of the regular inet surfers would have come across this line of questioning before so if you have you could just sit back and relax and read the replys.. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>.
me: so is he a 'lesser true god' or a 'lesser false god?'.

err...moxy was right...i didn't see the "past" after his "perfect"...past perfect is indeed the same as pluperfect.

actually, moxy, "had been" is the pluperfect passive indicative.
Perfect passive indicative would be "have been"
think of imperfect as past tense, but occuring over a long period of time..."was" and "were" or "used to" are used for imperfect...like "the war was waged...over a long period of time" This makes sense because we weren't talking about a specific point in time where there was "the word" but a long period of time.
