I caught that statement too. Typical spin. It's not an apology at all. What the reporters need to ask is why when elders called them they were told to cover it up if they were just overlooked? They need to ask if it was overlooked, then why do the keep a database of over 20,000 names of perps? You don't enter all of that data into a database to overlook it.

I have a question similiar to Sixofnine's. If you are heterosexual, did you choose it, or did it just naturaly happen? Well, if you are like me, attraction to the opposite sex just happened. I did not make a mental choice. I did not have to think, do I like women or men? It was not a choice. It was a natural event. So, why should it be different for homosexuals?
That is an excellent point, larc, which most heterosexual people don't even stop to think about. Sexual orientation is not a choice, whether you are gay, bi, or straight. It just happens. People can experiment, but their sexual orientation doesn't change because they do experiment.
People don't turn gay. They have usually been struggling to conform to straight stereotypes for years, going through the motions, then realize that it just won't work for them to keep fighting their nature that way. There is enormous pressure for gay people to conform, in the movies, on TV, in schools, in churches and elsewhere. But things are changing, and our children and grandchildren are realizing that they no longer have to be miserable for half their lives before coming out.

I have two step granddaughters that are gay. We love them as we love all of our grandchildren. How they got that way is immaterial. They just are. So we just accept them and their partners. Life is too short for them to be miserable (and us too).
If anyone here is having difficulty accepting a gay child, there is an excellent support group for the Parents and Family of Lesbians and Gays called PFLAG.

Dear Vita & Happy;
I started celebrating when I joined a support group for a medical condition I had. They had theme dinners and such. I didn't celebrate at home though until I met my husband. He does the holidays BIG TIME (he is a lot like Tim Allen with the Xmas lights) and I now find that I enjoy them too.
Just remember it's:
Happy Halloween
Happy Thanksgiving (also Happy Turkey Day is acceptable)
Merry Christmas
Happy Holidays
Happy New Year
They look at you strangely when you get your Happys and Merrys mixed up.

Can someone explain this to me?
by Tinkerbell4125 insister got married back in the summer.
she had a small wedding and they only invited their families.
this is what i don't understand.

I can't begin to explain it. My father was never baptized. (Yes, my mother married an unbeliever!) He takes her to casinos for gambling. He got her to go to an "R" rated movie that he was dying to see. He took us both to a topless show. He takes her to worldly get togethers (one where he got shit faced drunk and insisted on driving home). They do love each other but he has consistently been a bad influence on her as far as JW stuff goes.
Who is the one shunned? Me. I DA myself in 1994.
I don't get it either.

November 1999 Kingdom Ministry Up
by Stephanus inhttp://jsefton.users1.50megs.com/kmscans.htm
this is the first real sign of the 'tower's increasing fear of the internet - the dangers of the internet are covered in graphic detail.
there's no mention of watchtower trolls sending viruses to try and shut down this site, however.

My thoughts on these paragraphs:
5. Bombs? Violent and pornographic web sites? Please, I'm too busy togo to those sites and have more interesting places to go, like support group sites for people recovering from toxic religious cults!
7. Yes, the dangers of email are very real. In fact, the same kind of information can be sent to your home now via a postal employee. Don't you thing the GB should have JWs remove their mailboxes next? You can't get the WT and Awake by snail mail any more, so why would any Christian want such an extravagence as a mailbox. Why, you can even get anthrax from snail mail. Surely if you can get AIDS from loose conduct and blood transfusions, you would also want to consider the other deadly threats such as anthrax in your mail. Nail up your mail slot. Remove your mailbox!
8. Hahahahaha! The pot calling the kettle black! We don't want to pass on misinformation, like vaccinations can cause you to commit immorality, that long exposure to the sun is healthy, and that aluminum is the Devil's metal.
10. Hey, that's actually a pretty good idea. Has anyone here thought about doing this? Come to think of it, those JW sites are snoozers. It sure would get boring after awhile.
Come to think of it, the rest of this stuff is pretty boring too. They go one to talk about "apostate" propaganda, blah, blah, blah. They have the one true propaganda, blah, blah, blah. I just can't take it any more. Thanks Stephanus, but I just can't stomach any more of this tonight. This stuff is toxic all at once.

DRESS TO IMPRESS?
by bay64me inmost years, my old congregation would get asked for volunteers to clean and garden our assembly hall.. as you all well may have observed, at such occasions at your hall, all the youngsters would use this oppertunity to show the opposite sex, just what they looked like in their 'civvys' (leisure-wear) !.
i knew one sister that used to make her own clothes and would make this, sort of andy-pandy suit.
she would use some sort of candy-striped bed linen-sort-of-material, usually pastel coloured and make a kind of all-in-one romper-cum-knicker-bocker-pedal-pusher-number?

I remember how fun it was to watch the fashion show at d'strict convention. Some young women would dress to the nines! It was interesting to see what they thought they could get away with. I always referred to them as shoppers.
