by Stress Free ini have been a regular visitor to this forum for the past 2 years or so, finally i got the courage to register.. you guys are an inspiration , your stories and experiences have helped me to take a stand against this controlling org.. in short, i was raised from birth as a jw, parents are from the old school very much hard liners, the society is their god.
is expected of you, get baptised as a teenager become a ms then elder.
i always had my doubts about the society and its teachings but was.

last night on the history channel they were examining an airplane crash from the 1950's and telling about how the engineers determined that there was an aerodynamic anomaly for the crash called "flutter" and that these principles of flutter were also in affect when the tacoma narrows bridge collapsed.. i thought back to when i was a child and saw this famous footage on "you asked for it" and my grandmother had us switch the channel because it was demons that were making the bridge twist like that.
i believed it for a while and was scared to death whenever that footage was replayed on tv.

I told my husband about this at dinner tonight. Apparently his religion didn't even use the demons to scare kids like the JWs do. I asked him if he was ever scared of demons as a child and he told me, "No, because the devil kicked me out of hell one day for trying to sell ice creams down there." LOL!

our attendance was sporadic due to mom's opposition.
they knew our mom was lutheran and that she kept us from attending many meetings.

I believed it for a while and was scared to death whenever that footage was replayed on TV. Eventually, as I grew up, I realized that there was a perfectly logical and scientific explanation for it. And now the History Channel has given me a name for it. "Flutter!" Thanks you guys at HC. You rock!
If Gramma was still alive, I could tell her so she wouldn't have to be afraid any more.
Do you have any demon stories in your family that have perfectly normal explanations? How long were you scared sh!+less as a kid by these senseless paranoid tales? Aren't you glad you don't have to be scared of that stuff any more? It's so good to be free... isn't it?
