  the watchtower society keeps telling everyone to stay away from the evil internet.

  they claim that once you surf the internet, even if it's done innocently, it's the beginning of the end.

  were you personally affected in your faith because you turned on the computer?

  For me it was doubts first; Internet later. In fact, I didn't look up anything about JWs on the internet untill after I my DA.

  Imponderables -- Why would God Almighty Need a Day of Rest?

  another thread reminded me of some of the things i used to think about growing up.

  here are some of the things i used to think about back when i was a doubting jw.... why would an omnipotent all-powerful god need a seventh day of rest?

  and if he was everlasting to everlasting, don't you think he was already bored with resting and that's why he started creating in the first place?

  Do you think though that perhaps humans have been so troublesome that god has decided on a four day work week yet? And what about extended vacations? Sick leave?

  Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons and fingerprints? Where would they keep their lint? (LOL - Okay, that's a joke I threw in.) If they had no fingerprints, how did they grip the forbidden fruit or pick anything up?

  Why did God give Adam nipples?

  When the flood came and froze all of those mastodons in Siberia and fossilized dinosaurs, why didn't Noah's neighbors get frozen? How come archaeologists haven't ever found frozen or fossilized Nephilim?

  If plants were created before the insects and birds (flying creatures of the heavens) how did they pollinate on their own for 7000 years? Why don't plants still do that? Did Jehovah mow the lawns for 7000 years?

  Did Jehovah speed up the process to create petrified wood so it would look millions of years old instead of several thousand years? If so, why?

  Did the Nile River turn into blood at the border to Egypt, or was it all they way back to Victoria Falls? If the latter, why were countries to the south made to pay for Pharaoh's obstinace? Did the Nile River turn back into water at the Mediterranean Sea?

  Why didn't Joshua get really bad sunburn when the sun stood still? Wouldn't the other side of the world have frozen? Why weren't there weather related disasters recorded for years to come?

  If Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible, how did the ending of Deuteronomy get written? Was it just a lucky guess about how things would turn out?

  Why did God invent parasites like mosquitoes, tapeworms, and fleas? If he is resting from creation, where do all these new viruses come from?

  I may have covered some of these before, but you can see why I was inactive for so long before I DA myself.

  Things I Don't Get About Christmas

  it's been a while since i've started a post.

  some of you may remember me.

  i'm writing tonight because i feel like such an outsider at christmas sometimes.

  I worked at a law firm where the accounting department cooked all night for the legal secretaries the night before our last day before the holidays. The rest of the year they made our lives miserable. The food was great, but we secretly hated them all. This is not what Christmas is about.

  Its about your kids, and your family and real friends old and new. Some people go through the motions (business affiliations) and then there is the real meaning of gathering your most loved around you, and remembering those most loved that can't be with you.

  Yes, I think gifts like this are really disingenuous and I personally find them offensive. I also think that when you have an almost adversarial atmosphere with your bosses with complaints to the union and the state labor office, it would be hypocritical of me to eat their food. I would much rather spend my holiday energy doing good things for others; family and friends are at the top of the list.

  LisaRose,

  That is a great approach to the Holidays. My husband and I have ham and cheese omelettes on Christmas morning. The ham is left over from our big Christmas dinner, which we have on Christmas Eve, the night before. It is our tradition. I'm sure some might think it strange to have Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve though.

  Bullying is a crime!

  the last few months have been very difficult for us.. my husband has been experiencing bullying by his boss at work and his management team.

  there is no reason for the bullying....it is just happening.

  he is repeatedly being asked into investigations and disciplinary meetings for issues so small that his trade union representatives are at their wits end and have finally decided to call in the head of their trade union and a lawyer to begin going down the road of constructive dismissal.

  I am so sorry your husband is going through this. I am going through a similar situation at work, but the US doesn't have any clear laws against it yet. The union has put them on notice though.

  It is a very difficult and stressful thing that your husband is going through. He will feel he has to watch every move he makes so as not to trigger an attack. A manager may attack for any insignificant matter of opinion or semantics. At other times the manager may even be nice. It's almost like the relationship between an abusive spouse and his or her victim, where the abuser tries to make up for things. Then something triggers the abuse again.
