Did you used to get people in your cong that were more sensitive to the demonic influences than others. Some people just used to get bad feelings about an innocious piece of music.A Tears for Fears song did it for one of my old friends. Then there are others that sense a satanic presence around inanimate objects.
Satan was everywhere and in everything.Kate Bush was a witch - so was the girl out of fleetwood mac. Some records had secret messages that if you tilted your head and turned three times said "Worship Satan"
There probably are such messages in metal music but they used to be so paranoid it reached ridiculous levels."Don't you hear it - listen again but slow it down more"
I heard that "earth wind and fire" asked all witnesses to leave from their concert as it messed up the energy.
There were lots of stories like that hurling around.Personally I never took much notice but I know those that did.I remember being condemned for owning Micheal Jackson albums. That was because he turned his back on Jah.Those were the days when you could buy a Micheal Jackson album with head held high. Some people used to be stumbled by every damn thing.

Hank Marvin is or was an elder.Who? In the Shadows - played with cliff...ah never mind.
My nan used to be so happy when she sighted him at an assembly. It is a strange reaction when a witness learns a star is in the org.It shouldn't matter but it does. For people used to being the butt of every joke they give members a sense of credibility.A reason to feel good about where they are.I once heard Bono was studying and I was really excited. Prince will have some new devotees.I guess he'll need them. -

Evil Men/silentlambs
by silentlambs inthis was a post i made six months ago, some of you may have missed it.
i have watched many responses from those within the organization that endeavor to defend the current watchtower policy toward pedophiles.
the most common response seems to be that any accused child molester is reported to the watchtower legal department and then reported to local authorities with cooperation from the local elders.

A few quick questions about the dateline programme. Is it known when it will be aired? How long will the piece be? What format does it take - is it a sixty minutes kind of thing? Is Dateline a high profile show? I come from the UK so I guess I'll miss this entirely. Is Kent or Randall or someone else going to put it on the net?
Thanks -

when is enough enough
by spider inthere is a fight going on.it is great to watch it.the arch enemy borg is to get its comeupance.the rebel fleet has a new weapon which will topple the empire.too many sci-fi analogies.....yea sorry about that.. i hear about all the work being done to highlight child abuse, the blood issue and disfellowshipping.there is picketing and programmes being made on national television.it gets my adrenalin running to think about it.i qeustion myself - how much is a desire for this religion to change and how much is pure blood lust.. when will i be satisfied?.
if the witnesses do change their policy on child abuse then there is still the blood issue to focus on.if they change that then disfellowshipping becomes the primary concern.if by some miracle they saw the light and dropped this as well - what then?.
will i be content then or will i want more?.

I think I would like the lies and deceptions of people in power to be exposed.I would like the strings to be cut.The magic to be lifted.
I think maybe then it would be enough for me.
How far do you want it to go? Do you just want to change things a little or leave a bruised and battered corpse. When is enough enough? -

It is great to see the rules so clearly stated. It is also shocking there are so many.Growing up in the witnesses I was not aware of learning most rules. As a baby I learned to speak and the word "fornication" at the same time.
I learned to walk but could not explain how.Neither could I explain "the rules" but I probably knew many even then.Later I did more than know them.I felt them.
Seeing "the rules" is like someone shining a torch on the bars that have kept us in.
It is no wonder people feel trapped. They don't just imprision you - they bind and gag you as well.
Imagine witnesses giving this list out on house to house.Thinking about this - is it any wonder witnesses must resort to elements of deception. -

I seem to remember reading a society publication brought out in the eighties.I think it was called the Peace book or maybe my memory is playing tricks. It was red....anyway - It was the only book I remember ever suggesting that after Armageddon we might collenate other planets.I was quite excited about it at the time.
Now, after all that you just said I wonder if the writer was just watching a bit too much sci-fi. -

Do you want the real truth or not?
by Jason inon this website there seems to be so many lies and so little actual truth.
is this supposed to be a place to get answers or confuse the hell out of truth seekers?
well, for you seekers out there, if you find the truth on this site it'll be a major fluke.

1)The sun will rise tommorrow.
2)ice is cold.
3)one add two make three.
1) No the sun will not rise tomorrow. However, the earth's rotation will cause your part of the planet to become illuminated.
2) Not when you stick it in the kettle and switch the power on button.
3) It could = 12 too... 1+2=12Nice one Logical. You make your point perfectly.

Jason - thanks for you're comments.
I asked you what is truth.
Here are things I believe are true.
1)The sun will rise tommorrow.
2)ice is cold.
3)one add two make three.
Maybe some would take issue with no1.The sun does not actually rise.It is just my own perspective.
Are perhaps other things which seem true to us also a matter of perspective.Reality, the passing of time - how much is our own perspective?
How true are you're truth's next to these.
Can you prove to me that Jesus was God's son.You might prove Jesus existed. You might show what the bible says.Does this then become absolute truth?
How much is simply you're belief in its truth.
You have a right to you're belief.
If I believe in Budda's teachings will you teach me my error. -

Prevalence of JW Suicides - Real or Imagined?
by AMNESIAN inin one or two recent threads i've seen reference to the possibility of a rising number of jw suicides being another of the organization's very dark realities about which it is vigilant in keeping concealed from its pub populace.
is there anyone reasonably informed regarding this?
is there reason to suppose the incidence ratio among jws is any higher than among any peoples/religion?

I think people were depressed in the witnesses but were unable to define it.Kind of like a child that feels anger, sadness or jelousy but does not have the vocabulary or experience to be able to quantify or understand these feelings.
Witnesses are very often not aware of the pressure they are being put under. They are not aware of the mind control. They are not aware of the others that were also depressed.
Negetive feelings were not to be tolerated. If they existed then it was our fault.Jehovah's people are a HAPPY people.
Feelings though have a way of coming out.Personally this is why I think so many people I knew suffered from "chronic fatigue syndrome".It is not a sign of a healthy mind when it begins to shut down.I do not think this illness was not isolated to our congregation. -

I was told "The truth".I had "the truth".I believed "the Truth" for almost my entire life.Trouble is, it wasn't.
Most here have had a similar experience.Forgive us if we are not in a hurry to be swept away by you're "truth".
I think you need to qualify the term "truth" a little more. To a witness, having the truth is simply being in that religion. For every statement of belief there are a hundred others. You are a christian and are passionate in you're belief that you are right.Do you not believe that we were not equally as passionate.Belief that you are right does not make you so.
Believing you have an all embracing truth and all others are misled is arrogant. It is something ex-witnesses are very sensitive to.This is the reason you have had a particularly cold reception here thus far.
We spent a lot of time telling others that we had the answers - that everyone else was wrong. It is a humbling when you realize how misled you are.Once you make this mistake you tend to be a bit more open minded and accepting.
Perhaps this experience has not occured to you yet.Perhaps the certainties have not yet fallen like like a castle into the dust. You may have it to come.
It is traumatic at first. When the dust clears though you tend to see things with greater clarity.Stop feeling the superiority that living in a castles can bring.
My advice would be to leave you're chalk and blackboard outside.Listen to different ideas, perspectives and beliefs without assuming that they are automatically wrong if they are not in accordance with you're own.
Listen with respect.
Jesus said we must be as a child. In what way?
We all have something to contribute. We all have something to teach but first must come a willingness to listen. To put our truth above anothers is to make another person lower. This cannot be good.
My comments are not "the truth".Just an opinion but I hope you give it due consideration before you pass it over.
