  Education or propaganda?

  looking for some material to post on facebook or at least share with my wife to somewhat inoculate her mind before the convention this weekend.. found this gem...it's as if the writers are apostates reasoning against the tactics used at this years convention.....(probably old news to many here....quite new for me).. the cunning propagandist loves such shortcuts—especially those that short-circuit rational thought.

  propaganda encourages this by agitating the emotions, by exploiting insecurities, by capitalizing on the ambiguity of language, and by bending rules of logic.

  as history bears out, such tactics can prove all too effective.. [...].

  Why are the least informed people the most opinionated?

  while trying to have a conversation with a trump supporter today i realized the person knew next to nothing about the us constitution, world events, trumps flip-flops, hillary's e-mails, etc.. i have sense decided it is much easier to do absolutely no research and boldly make broad proclamations rather than read up on a particular topic and make concise points.

  as such, i will now be telling you why tim kaine was the worst governor new jersey has ever had:.

  under tim kaine new jersey gdp dropped by 97%.. humming birds were able to penetrate restricted airspace.. the bridge to missouri kept getting closed.. he made the state look weak by having a state flower.. all the hard working i-pad miners lost their jobs.. and he set up obamacare death panels that were run by isis in planned parenthood vegan centers..

  ctrwtf - Speaking of under-informed voters. Tim Kaine was never the governor of New Jersey. He was the governor of Virginia however.

  Thomas Keane was a governor of New Jersey and a republican, not a democrat.

  I freaking loved it!

  I am usually bored by poems that don't have structure, and today, people tend to write unstructured poetry, which is... boooooooring. I love structured poetry, especially with rhymes. They don't only have meaning; they are true art. Yours is highly structured. When someone is able not only to show their emotions but also structure them in a poem, this person is a true writer.

  cofty - I remember listening to an historian back in '89 immediately after the astonishing collapse of Communism. He was asked what the future of global politics would look like now that the Cold War was over.

  He replied that the world would now return to the age-old conflict between Islam and the West. I wondered what the hell he was talking about.

  I wish I could remember who he was.

  My quick Google search resulted in a name Samuel P. Huntington, a political scientist, who in 1992 proposed a hypothesis called the Clash of Civilizations. Later, in 1996, he wrote a book called The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order. However, to my knowledge, he was not a historian, so I don't think this is the guy you are talking about. I wish I could go back to my World Issues class (just for a second though!) during which we discussed it...

  Yup. He wrote a whole book about it—although it may have been a different person. Maybe I'll be able to find the name.

  Maybe a person who literally wouldn't hurt a single fly? Note that I'm not talking about extremism necessarily characterised by violence but rather extreme interpretation of an ideology.

  cofty - Sooner or later, in some form, with the same objectives and tactics - yes.

  I would have to agree. It wouldn't exist in the same form as ISIS does today; nonetheless, Qu'ran encourages—not only allows—such possibility of holy war, and I strongly believe that sooner or later some fundamentalist followers would create an organisation similar to a degree.

  Obviously, I am not saying that all or even most Muslims would embrace violence against non-Muslims. I am pointing out the fact that within every single religion there are fundamentalists who go to extremes, even if they are a minority.
