25 YEARS of compiled yearbook statistics
by 88JM inhello again folks - as promised in my last thread here, i've been working on turning yearbook statistics into excel spreadsheets.. coincidentally, today is my 25th birthday (spare a thought for a fader).. i've now updated the spreadsheet with yearbook data all the way back to 1988 (the year i was born), therefore it now contains 25 years of statistics.. there were a lot of countries changing around and for some it was possible to create a continuation of data.
some are a simple change of name like south-west africa to namibia.
others, for example - in 1993 with czechoslovakia splitting into two countries (czech republic and slovakia) i have added an extra row that provides a continuation of the data, combining czech republic and slovakia back together as if they were still one country.

The Only True Doctor A Parable
by goatshapeddemon ina friend of mine recently found out a few years back that she had an aggressive form of breast cancer.
she went to many doctors, but all of them told her she had to have a mastectomy and undergo radiation therapy.
that seemed really unappealing to her.

Great arguments, play devils advocate for me
by logical1 inpretend you're a faithful witness and devils advocate these arguments for me to help fine tune them:.
fallacy of perfection:.
"there will be no more sickness and death in the new earth...".

@logical1, very great logic, indeed! I commend your rational thinking. But, I can assure you, from bitter personal experience, your sharpest sword wouldn't even cut butter with most of the JWs. I can be a very cunning debater, and people say I give the best saleman pitch anytime I wish to pass a message (at least, my university professors tell me so), yet I have tried most of these arguments with JWs all around me, save the infinite argument, but I doubt even that would work, you know why? Because the cognitive dissonance of an average JW is raised to the power of exponential infinite!
But yes, maybe, it could strike a cord somewhere down down their minds, so I commend you once again- powerful arguments you've got!

Are you prepared to apologise even when it is not you fault?
by usualusername inare you prepared to apologise even when it is not you fault?.

Nope, that would be stupid and hypocritical to me. Sounds like something Watchtower would have one do. But, yes, I could make compromises if it would allow enough peace to let the wrong party realise her/his mistake and then do the apologizing. I wouldn't pay for someone's else mistakes 'cause no one gonna pay for mine!

Judicial committee questions
by slimboyfat inwhen the elders invite someone to a judicial committee does the person under scrutiny have the right to ask beforehand what evidence will be adduced against him and what witnesses will be called?
in other words is there pre-trial disclosure within the watchtower's quasi legal process?

Never got to know my accuser(s) officially till date! I personally approached someone I thought was my principal antagonist to avoid animiosity that could result from feeling betrayed, but she denied and gave a list of persons she felt were potential accusers, bottomline, she listed a good number of persons I or my girlfriend thought were our friends. Also, the elders did do a good deal of lying, and they insisted on my not keeping notes when they could. Also, when I appealled, they asked if I kept copies of the appeal leter! Had to get thru a humilating process of SSS-type, Gestapo-styled interrogation just because of family and love, and still I got the boot! Wished I just simply didn't go, wished I never gave them those powers over me!
Anyway, rant over. I'd suggest, if you don't have paddies on the JC, or your chances are slim, just don't go!

April Fool Easter!!! LMAO
by ThisFellowCheap inso, the joke goes somewhat like this in paraphrase: an atheist was complaining about the religionists having preferential treament when it comes to religious national holidays, that the christians get their days and muslims and likes and they don't give just one to the atheists.
and up pops the witty christian and say, "oh, i thought that was what april 1st was meant for!".
and i had to gobble that up every year- no, not this year!

And I had to gobble that up every year- No, not this year! Ironically Easter Monday falls on April 1st, and ain't that enough clue for all those who believe the ressurrection stories that they are just simply being dumb- even the "calendar" is saying SO!
So, now I guess it's those who believe the ressurrection tales that are the "real" fools now! LOL How the table turns!!
So, I raise my glass to a toast: Happy Easter, April Fools!!!

EASTER QUIZ: Where is the missing prophecy Jesus fulfilled?
by Terry insince today is celebrated by christians all over the world as easter sunday.... here is sort of a puzzle to solve--if you are interested in things such as this.. .
we begin with luke 24:46. we have a claim being made about a prophecy.. speaking to his disciples on the night of his alleged resurrection, he said, "thus it is written and thus it was necessary for the christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day.
" that the resurrection of christ on the third day was prophesied in the scriptures was claimed also by the apostle paul in 1 corinthians 15:3-4: "for i delivered to you first of all that which i also received: that christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

Well, @AffHawk, I'd be damned if Friday night to Sunday morning is 3 days and 3 nights! Mehn, that's bloody wonderful arithmetic!! Those guys are just blabbing, and I like how they compare one non-event to the other, proves to me that if one didn't happen, likely neither did the other. I mean Jonah and Jesus- don't you smell something fishy!

Tower of Babel built by Babies!
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inthe weekly tms bible reading assignment is not read, or not carefully read, by most of the sheeples.
it doesn't really matter, because the consideration of the bible reading material is one of the shortest parts on the meeting with a limited number of comments, and those comments are restricted to less than 30 seconds or you will get counselled.
over and over, the dubs are told to read the bible, yet the organization gives no real encouragement to read the bible by keeping everyone busy in the recruiting work and using relatively few scriptures in their "talks".. why?
