Steve, good points. I can't see how Christ could have used these people to try to accomplish any good. If he did choose them in 1919, he must be disappointed.

Trebor, thanks for the insights into the confusion of WT. That makes it seem worse than the Babel Tower (BT). Its so hard to believe I was caught up in that mess. I wish I could have been saved from the WT sooner. now it looks so comical.

Somehow I missed this silly comment in the WT study las year. I must have been daydreaming. But WT wants to make sure I get the point.
"After the death of the apostles, Satan fomented apostasy, which flourished for many centuries. During that time, there were no sustained efforts to fulfill the commission to make genuine disciples of Christ. But that would all change during “the harvest,” that is, the last days."
Please help me, you highly spiritual people. Are they saying that Jesus took an 1800 year break and didn't remain with Christians to make sure there was a sustained effort to fulfill their commission? We know that God took a Sabbath break, the JWs say for 7,000 years. But he did that after working for 42,000 years. Is Jesus supposed to take a break so soon after his ultimate sacrifice?
And when he got back to work in 1914-1919, did he and God really pick Russell and Rutherford as his most trusted Slave? After Russell foretold Armageddon to happen in 1914, based on measurements from the Great Pyramid of Giza?

New Bible, In Spanish.... Why taking so long?!
by Doubtfully Yours inis it possible it's not like they initially said, that it was just having god's name added in places where it had been deleted, and that perhaps they're making more adjustments to it in order to fit our doctrine?.
come out with the freakin' new bible in spanish already!!!.

I can image some Spanish speaking dubs stressing about this. Spanish has been the largest language group in number of publishers for several years. They should really have been first, but they aren't as profitable. I feel kind of bad for the extremely deluded ones. The English RNWT came out in 2013, so the Spanish could reasonably expect theirs in 2014. But nope. Not in 2015 either. But Angola, Brazil, and Portugal got theirs. -

Do you want to take a trip into the twisted, psychopathic, narcissistic minds of the gb? Maybe be a fly on the wall at a Wednesday morning meeting? Let's image its 2015 and they're planning the 2016 Special Conventions. Of course they can plan their expenses paid luxury pleasure trips, and keep them tax free to the WT for just about any reason, like visiting any assembly, a branch office, KMS, RTO, or whatever. But the Special Conventions can be another special way to stroke their own narcissism.
GB1: Well it's time to plan our exotic vacations. Special Conventions are a proven way to extract maximums donations and to get some big green handshakes and serious bling. As with other pleasure trips, one third of the fun is planning, one third is actually going, and one third is reminiscing about it afterwards, even bragging about it later on. How many shall we have?Gb2: There are seven of us, so why don't we each pick a place we like?
1: So are you saying you want to go to Manila again?
2: No, I'm kind of sick of that filthy place. I was thinking a nice clean place, like Finland. There are so few JWs there we can do the whole country in one weekend. Set up a big convention in Helsinki, with three smaller ones the same weekend in other cities, and tie them in by Internet. Of course we'll include our official language English, so the NY elite don't have to listen to foreign a gauges. We can throw in Russian and Swedish for some of the natives that speak those, and it will make it look a bit international. We can ask them to fix some Swedish meatballs and Russian borscht.
1: Helpers, you heard him, set it up!
Helpers: Yes, Brother L, we'll set it up starting June 24.
gb3: I want to go some place close. You know I'm the oldest and we told everyone on JWTV that I have diabetes. And the last time I went to Paris I had to rely on an angel that looked like Arnold Schwartzenegger to carry my bags.
1: OK, we'll find some place close for you. But I'm going to Paris. The City of Lights. The City of Love.
It got sickening for me to start getting into their thinking process, so I thought I'd write down a short summary of what the Helpers and their little helpers in the GB travel department came up with:
1) Helsinki, FinlandHelsinki Special Convention starting 2016-06-24, to be held at the Helsinki Messukeskus (Expo and Convention Centre). Languages are English, Finnish, Russian, and Swedish. There will be three concurrent Finnish conventions in the cities of Kuopio, Oulu, and Tampere.
2) Paris, FranceParis (Villepinte) starting 2016-07-29 in French, English, Polish, and Serbian. There will also be two English conventions held starting 2016-07-15 at Marignane (Salle d'assemblées) and starting 2016-08-19 at the Bressols (Salle d'assemblées).3) Utrecht, NetherlandsStarting 2016-08-05 at Jaarbeurs Utrecht in English, Dutch, Papiamento (Curaçao), Portuguese, and Spanish. There will also be two Dutch conventions held at the same time in the cities of Den Bosch and Zwolle. The only other Dutch convention starts earlier on 2017-06-02 in Congreshal Swifterbant

I'm getting baptized
by BlackWolf ini know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.
my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.
i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

BlackWolf, you are amazing. Stay strong and stay calm. You will make it through this.
Thousands of children and teenagers are facing the same pressure as you right now. The WT is hitting your generation with double barrels these last two weeks before the RC starts next Friday. It's despicable.
You have gotten some great advice already. Rather that try to criticize doctrine, I agree with some who have urged you to emphasize the parent daughter bond. Reassure them that you love and respect them.
Regarding baptism, it might be best if you use the current study articles to your advantage. I can assure you you parents are studying them extra carefully this week, looking at ways to "encourage" you, like they did last week. You need to study it even harder than they do, so you can convince them that you have given it serious thought and that you know you are not ready. It is easier to buy a few months than to buy two years.
Tell them you read the article and found there is a ton of suggested reading and you need time to fully digest this rich spiritual food from the Slave. Ask them to let you spend Saturday in deep personal study, so you can ponder this decision, which the most important decision of your entity life. Be really serious. They might suggest that you stay home from service to do it. If so, it could give you a breather. There is also plenty of material there to help you show that you are not ready for baptism this summer.
To keep you parents from flipping into cult mode, stay loving and respectful, and avoid anything that could remotely sound apostate. If you dad insists on studying with you, do not argue with him. Put the burden on him to explain things. The toughest and most indefensible doctrine is overlapping generations. There is no way a generation can last 120 years. If you can find a way to do so respectfully, ask how long your great grand parents lived. That's four generations.

This video makes me think of 5 young self sacrificing couples in my area that have given up nice homes for the privilege of going to SKE, like the couple in the video. I love all of these 10 lovely young people. They are fortunate to have prosperous parents who can sponsor them financially and who can donate generously for the "free" education. Perhaps this video will give them comfort that the sacrifices they made to WT will give them a chance to ingratiate themselves with a COBE that will allow them breaks in his basement as they scurry about on mob-infested streets checking on other cult members. -

The WT has this to say about it on their website, including some interesting history. Lincoln slept here. He did a lot of sleeping around.
On Tuesday, April 26, 2016, Jehovah’s Witnesses closed on the sale of 124 Columbia Heights in Brooklyn, New York. The over 152,000-square-foot (14,121 sq m) residential property, with its iconic watchtower atop the roof, is situated at the north entrance of the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. The property was listed in December 2015, and after a competitive bidding process, a first-time buyer for one of the Witnesses’ properties was selected.
The original four-story brownstone at 124 Columbia Heights was the home of Henry Ward Beecher, the renowned abolitionist and pastor of Plymouth Church, from 1856 to 1881. The New York Times reported on the property’s historical significance, stating that “it was in this house that President Lincoln is said to have visited Mr. Beecher shortly before the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.” In May 1909, the Witnesses purchased the brownstone and subsequently obtained several adjoining properties to create the ten-story building that spans an entire city block today.
A spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses, Richard Devine, comments: “We consider 124 Columbia Heights to be one of our organization’s legacy buildings. As far back as 1909, it has primarily served as living quarters for our world headquarters staff. From 1929 to 1957, with the exception of four years, 124 Columbia Heights also housed our former radio station, WBBR, which aired Bible lectures and related broadcasts.”
Although the Witnesses have been a part of the Brooklyn Heights community for over 100 years, the original headquarters of their legal entity Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society was established in the 1880s in Allegheny (now part of Pittsburgh), Pennsylvania. David A. Semonian, a spokesman at the Witnesses’ world headquarters, notes: “The move in 1909 to a port city like Brooklyn was crucial at that time for the expansion and acceleration of our global Bible education work.”
The sale of 124 Columbia Heights marks the latest step in the Witnesses’ relocation of their headquarters offices to their nearly 50-acre complex soon to be completed in Warwick, New York. Mr. Semonian adds: “The move to our new custom-built facility upstate is exactly what we need now. Brooklyn was our home for more than a century, and Warwick will be our home for a new era in our history.”
