Any theories why sudden growth in WTS?

lately is observed some small growth in wts troops.

any idea what is causing it?

i've heard that an age of baptized new members has dropped and 9/11 makes an impact.

Look inside the Halls. 20 yrs. ago, you'd see the place packed. Nobody generally missed a meeting. If you did, you were hounded and questioned. Now, it's the norm not to be there. If the elders had to call everyone that regularly missed, they'd never be able to do anything else. See if the people that were steadfast 20 yrs. ago are still kickin'. Half are irregular.
Is this true?? I haven't been to a meeting since June, 1993, (except for my nightmares, but that's a topic for another thread) so you'll forgive me for being a bit out of the loop. Is attendance suffering? Are so many really irregular?

with all the talking about visiting inactive ones, i wonder how many inactive people have not been visited yet?

if you weren't visited yet, could it be because they df'd you, and you don't know about it?

Since I DA'd myself nine years ago, I've had three calls from elders. The first two times I politely declined and (??!!) thanked them for coming. On the final one (about three years ago), I asked that they not return. In fact, I was living in a secure apartment building at that time and carried on the conversation by means of the intercom system; I didn't even buzz the elder into the building!! LOL

Nothing since then.

i understand that catholic eat fried fish on friday,as friday is frigga's day and she is a pagan goddess,should jws eat fried fish in view of the pagan connections?

After the show airs, I wouldn't be surprised if you could go to the CBC website www.cbc.ca and follow the links to the Fifth Estate page; very often they will have the segment available on Media Player format which you can just click on. :)

Most ridiculous statements from the JW stage?

we have all sat at jw meetings and heard some ridiculous statements that were either shocking or just plain old bunk.

usually it is the same jw individuals that make those statements time and time again.

you know the type..... you can almost expect such comments from them.. jws place great importance on what statements or persons are 'stage worthy'.

How do you glue together a broken home

i'm 17. i was disfellowshipped almost two years ago.

i am the youngest of four kids and am the only left at home.

i live with my dad who has sort of faded from the jw scene.

Beans, just read your story. I missed it when you first posted it, I guess. Had to LOL when you were talking about Quotes' brothers, I used to call them The Apostles, there were so many of them. :)

And (maybe I need another cup of coffee) the last paragraph about hooking up with Quotes again after all that time made me cry! :) I have been hoping for a similar experience with any of my close friends from my Borg years (one in particular, perhaps you know him?). I keep searching for friends; on the exJW databases, etc. I left almost ten years ago; I hope my time will come soon! :)

Labels for Mags

hey, i wanted to share my latest brilliant idea for pissing off dubs.

i frequently see the mags in the usual public places: doctor's/dentist's office, supercuts, etc.

i didn't want to throw them away 'cuz then the idiots would just leave more - and get to count them as placements.

Actually, that's a fantastic idea. I think I will do the same, only with the www.freeminds.org addres instead; that way people don't know what site they're going to until they get there.

Can the US police the whole world?

even if the united states is the only superpower, can it really make war with iraq, and tackle north korea, and keep an eye on china, and other countries at the same time?

why does the us always have to take care of troubled spots all over the world by itself?

why can't japan and south korea take care of the north korean crisis?
