  The Elders Are Getting Opinions About Minimus

  my mother told me that her bookstudy overseer asked his group this question---"why do you think a mature brother in the truth would just suddenly leave and stop coming to meetings?

  any ideas?

  " the group gave different opinions and finally he gave what he thought could be the reasons.

  I couldn't agree more with what seattleniceguy said.

  I think it's deplorable that this sort of thing would come up at the book study of all places!! Aren't the elders supposed to discourage speculation about why members may have left?? And this dickhead is using abusing his authority as bookstudy conductor to *encourage open speculation* about that very subject, in a public forum? In front of your mom, to whom the elders should be giving support (their own brand of 'support', anyways)?

  Not only are they encouraging speculation, I agree with whomever said that they are trying to instill fear in the masses to "examine their own spirituality" so that they, too, are not overcome by whatever it was that led astray poor Brother Minimus and his family.

  ACK. The whole situation is unconscionable.

  Thinking of the kids at Christmas

  our two kids were so excited this morning going to school.

  this afternoon was the christmas party.

  so they were all set with party clothes in a bag to change into and their assigned food/drink they had to bring.

  My sadness about Christmas isn't so much for myself, it's for a lack of understanding of how my parents could stand to do this to us. If I had to tell my son that we couldn't celebrate Christmas, it would literally break my heart. I don't know how my mom and dad justified telling my oldest brother, who was five when they stopped celebrating, that they simply weren't going to have Christmas any longer.

  I'm also astounded that they didn't seem to have any compassion at all for me, a small child, where it concerned my disappointment at not being able to celebrate Christmas. As though I, at 3 or 4 or even 9 or 10 years old, should feel joy at being "separate from the world" and should gladly keep myself away from the Christmas celebrations at school and so on. It was as if they honestly didn't understand why, when they gave me the reasons we didn't celebrate, I didn't jump up and sing Hallelujah or something.

  My Wife Was Confronted By Her Friends Last Night

  .......i just noticed your post........can't say i blame you for thinking that.

  i mentioned i'm currently an elder and don't plan on leaving the organization...........but i probably won't be an elder much longer......as i'm not exactly the "ball of fire" they want.

  (((dothemath))) Don't let these naysayers rush you into something you're not ready for. You are the only one who knows your situation, and no one has the right to call you hypocritical; particularly as you've already stated that you won't likely be an elder much longer, based on the fact that you wouldn't want to preach things from the platform that you no longer believe to be true. (Did the lynch mob miss that???)

  Let it happen at your own pace. I think you will leave eventually, but you're the only one who knows for sure. I hope you can realize that you don't have a "time limit", eg. Armageddon, to make your decision. I will keep you in my thoughts.

  Black BUT Comely?

  ..in town earlier today, i was walking towards a black lady who gave me a dazzling smile as we passed each other.

  she was a beautiful looking woman, and for some reason the old bible verse from song of solomon came into my mind: "i am black, but comely, o daughters of jerusalem, as the tents of kedar, as the curtains of solomon.

  look not upon me, because i am black; because the sun hath etc.." .

  The only thing I would be concerned about in using Watchtower is copyright infringement; we all know how the Borg loves a good lawsuit. But I do like the idea of retaining the "quotes" portion of the URL since that's how you are already known. :)

  I remember in the late 70s & early 80s there was a woman on PBS who did a yoga program. I asked my mom about it and she said that we shouldn't do yoga because you have to empty your mind to do it, and Satan could come along and enter your mind.

  how many here believe that we all have a soulmate somewhere in this world that is especially for us, or do you believe that the person we happen to fall in love with becomes our soul mate?

  I believe there are those whose auras resonate on a frequency similar to that of our own, and those are the people we are closest to in our lifetime, both as lovers and friends.

  But the idea of there being one specific person in the universe whose soul matches yours exactly, and that you would actually find this person and spend your life with them, seems logistically highly improbable.
