Most ridiculous statements from the JW stage?
by Smiles inwe have all sat at jw meetings and heard some ridiculous statements that were either shocking or just plain old bunk.
usually it is the same jw individuals that make those statements time and time again.
you know the type..... you can almost expect such comments from them.. jws place great importance on what statements or persons are 'stage worthy'.

Beans, just read your story. I missed it when you first posted it, I guess. Had to LOL when you were talking about Quotes' brothers, I used to call them The Apostles, there were so many of them. :)
And (maybe I need another cup of coffee) the last paragraph about hooking up with Quotes again after all that time made me cry! :) I have been hoping for a similar experience with any of my close friends from my Borg years (one in particular, perhaps you know him?). I keep searching for friends; on the exJW databases, etc. I left almost ten years ago; I hope my time will come soon! :)

Labels for Mags
by DINKY inhey, i wanted to share my latest brilliant idea for pissing off dubs.
i frequently see the mags in the usual public places: doctor's/dentist's office, supercuts, etc.
i didn't want to throw them away 'cuz then the idiots would just leave more - and get to count them as placements.

Actually, that's a fantastic idea. I think I will do the same, only with the www.freeminds.org addres instead; that way people don't know what site they're going to until they get there.
Excellent idea, Dinky, thanks!!

Can the US police the whole world?
by JH ineven if the united states is the only superpower, can it really make war with iraq, and tackle north korea, and keep an eye on china, and other countries at the same time?
why does the us always have to take care of troubled spots all over the world by itself?
why can't japan and south korea take care of the north korean crisis?

"In another case, Laurie's parents were disfellowshipped. Yet she says: 'My association with them never stopped but increased. As time went on, I became more and more inactive. I got to the point of not even attending [Jehovah's Witnesses] meetings.' Then she read material in The Watchtower of September 1 and 15, 1981, that stressed the counsel of 1 Corinthians 5:11-13 and 2 John 9-11. "It was as if a light bulb were turned on in me," she writes. 'I knew I would have to make some changes. I now better understand the meaning of Matthew 10:34-36. My decision was not an easy one for my family to swallow, for my son, five, is the only boy, and they love him dearly.' It is hoped that losing such association will touch the parents' hearts, as it did Margaret's."
"What may seem harsh to outsiders is both necessary and really a loving thing to do."
SIGH. Reading things like this is difficult as it brings back many memories of what I used to think when I read it while in the Borg. We truly thought we were doing the right thing, because the brothers told us to!! It breaks my heart now to think of how I treated my disfellowshipped aunt. When I saw her, she would say hello, and I would simply return the greeting and walk away. We thought we were giving her "tough love". Who was I to act like such a little snot??
:( I hope that when I die, if some afterlife does indeed await, it will be kind to me in spite of the fact that I was once a JW.

Were your JW parents spirtually weak or strong?
by moreisbetter ini was a 3rd generation witness on both sides of the family.
even my great-grandomthers were considered witnesses, but i don't know if they were baptized.
my parents however were always considered weak and still are even though my mom has become more involved & for longer periods of time in the last 15 yrs.

My father is the Presiding Overseer of their cong; and my mother is absolutely, completely and totally brainwashed. I would hold out more hope for my dad to leave than my mom; but it won't happen for either of them.

Did you ever get put on the spot?
by Soledad inby that i mean from the platform at the kingdumb hall?
i remember some study conductors who had the habit of calling on people in the audience that seemed distracted or unprepared--on purpose so as to embarass them.
some were so out of it when the mic was handed to them they had to ask what was the question, why did you call on me i didnt have my hand up, etc.

My father, the Presiding Overseer, conducted the Watchtower study, and the bookstudy which was held at our house. He would glare at me if I wasn't answering. Sometimes I cared; most times I didn't.
There were times when the material was really, really deep and no one put their hands up and he would call on my mom or me or one of my older brothers when they lived at home.

Were You Ashamed To Be Identified As A JW?
by minimus in2 tim.2:15 says," do your utmost to present yourself approved to god, a workman with nothing to be ashamed of,handling the word of the truth aright.
" when you were at work, school or play did you find yourself ashamed to tell anyone that you were a witness?
what if they found out anyway?

Yes, when I was in public school and high school (which coincided with the greater portion of the time I was in the Borg) I would absolutely die if someone I knew from school answered the door during service. And avoided discussions of the subject in school, like the plague.
And my parents always made me call on my teachers. SIGH.
