  almost around the corner and i’ve started thinking of all the prep needed for family time.

  I am excited to be celebrating for the first time this year. I have bought my first tree / lights / wreath and I am going all out in this. Lots of my non-JW family and friends are providing me with support and ideas. Some of you may remember growing up in the cult like myself and the emotional trama of missing out on all the fun and family times together. Funny all the JW's loved that time of year the sights, the sounds, the smells....

  No more 'thank you' in response to Merry Xmas or Happy Holidays...I get to say it right back to the general public and workmates....I am so hyped....

  Normal Family Relations Continue...My Arse....

  i think that the big issue here is the double standard based on the location of the family members - if they are 'immediate' meaning they live at home in the same dwelling under the same roof then it's ok but if you are like me and living on your own, your family will absolutely avoid contact with you as that is the real jw policy..the old canada court trial and recent swedish news are totally out of context and the jw attorneys are complete tools and filthy liars....

  i saw this mentioned on reddit but no link - i found the article form this weeks bible study..... in the “congregation bible study” part of the meeting this week there was a part that said and i quote: “only jehovah god and his son can receive someone into the heavenly kingdom or the paradise on earth under that kingdom.

  we should diligently cultivate friendship with them by using what material riches we have in supporting kingdom interests”.

  In the “Congregation Bible Study” part of the meeting this week there was a part that said and I quote: “Only Jehovah God and his Son can receive someone into the heavenly Kingdom or the Paradise on earth under that Kingdom.   Where are the funds going to come from? Warwick Expansion

  so with the news that they are remodeling patterson and expanding warwick, where are the funds going to come from?.

  could this be a ruse like the need for thousands of kingdom halls proclaimed a few years back only to be replaced with the we realized the halls were not at capacity and the great sell-off began?.

  maybe the hope is going to be that the sheep will give give give and then all of the sudden, after prayerful consideration the gb have determined that the current resources are sufficient to create the needed media and content.. my bet is that in 10 years it will all be consolidated to warwick and walkill and patterson will be sold to who i have no idea, but they own a ton of property in upstate ny..

  Annual Meeting

  my uber cousin and wife are going back to wallkill this weekend for the annual meeting since they have a daughter and son in law in the inner sanctum so they are always invited.

  cousin said it was going to be broadcast from patterson to wallkill.

  anyone hear anything else about subject matter etc?.

  Money! How much did you "Contribute" To The WTB@TS When You Were A Member

  i was in full time service for six years including bethel.

  once i got out of bethel, i figured i had already given them six of the best years of my life (ages 18-24) working as a slave/drone in their factory, so i rationalized that i had given them enough... so over the next 27 years i would say maybe $200 bucks is it.

  i think their whole "voluntary contributions" idea is biting them in the ass, because over all jehovah's witnesses are a cheap group people with a few exceptions.

  I have to be honest I gave $100 a month to the WWW and $100 to the Local Congregation Expenses $100 to every convention/assembly. (For over 15 years)

  I honestly did it to lower my taxable income and nothing else. When I found out about the CSA lawsuits and was PIMO I stopped all together...

  I'd gladly donate that amount each month if it helped burn that bitch of an org to the ground. F that cult...

  Watching ESPN News this morning, S. Williams thanked Jehovah when addressing the crowd about having to withdrawal due to back spasms. Moments earlier they showed her dropping expletives (beeped out) and I had to laugh. They Borg makes allowances for the high rollers like them and Prince, cause they donate(d) so much $$$$

  I love how all pictures show that the men have time to stay clean shaven with pressed trousers and the women have their hair all done up with makeup to boot. Love the fact that despite all the terrible conditions the 'great tribulation' will bring, they are all in the standard JW apparel / I give them a G for dress and grooming.

  Cost of Attending the International Conventions

  i have never been invited/requested/applied to any international convention, other than it happening to be our own convention in new york city where we were already assigned (i think back and maybe this happened two times or so when i was growing up).. anyway, people here keep commenting about the cost to attend; the inflated airfares, rooms, transportation, etc.. does anyone have some actual numbers to provide?

  i realize that the cost of attending a convention in a different country will be affected by some variations in airfare from the departure city but generally how much do these things cost?

  are they comparable to a tour from an expedia, travelocity or other travel site?.

  It’s about 3-6 thousand USD per person

  you have to use their hotels and they are ridiculously high (I travel internationally for work and know the costs are inflated)

  Mandatory contributions for meals and tours (highly suggested contribution amount)

  in the USA I heard from a person who had family in that they review your contributions now electronically to see if you are donating a high enough amount to be considered worthy to be invited.

  Being from South Carolina not once approved to go to Atlanta or any other ones.

  Its a-huge money making scheme..
