A Gap In My Knowledge.

i have a gap in my knowledge re some of the procedures that come into play when someone decides that they simply don't want to be a witness any more.

just to explain:.

in my dub years, there were any number of ex-witnesses around.

My husband and I just walked away 3 years ago. We no longer go to meetings and rarely associate with them but if people see us they will stop and talk to us. I guess we were in the middle of moving to another area in the county and when we moved and they never kept track of us. They also think since everyone in my family is a wittness and my husbands mother is a wittness that they would encourge us to come back. I don't think anyone really cares that we left. By that time all of my friends had been disfellowshiped and I had been disallusioned for many years. I never wanted to be there and I think they could see that I just kind of did the motions.

although he is loveable............... i love animals, i have two dogs, a black lab named snoopy and a pug, named pug.

sometimes we call him pig, or dig, or mama's little baby.

field service/ meeting attendance/ personal study/ and personal prayer.. how were your key indicators?

I never prayed. I never knew what to say.

Meetings Always tried to get of going

Field Service Once I was old enough to drive me and my friends would say we were going on calls and then would go to Starbucks and after that meet up with our families for lunch but we all counted the time.

Personal study. I would skim and underline what i thought they would ask. I found personal study boring. I had it down to a science of 10 minutes tops.

I remember the last meeting I went to back in 1999. I gave a talk that night and I said to myself what the hell am I doing. Why am I here? After that I never went back.

how many know/remember brother wattington of the southern ca co?

the one that would always start his prayer with his diagphram emphasising the first word... "jjjjeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhoooooooooovvvvvaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...." ...and then pause as if actually waiting for jehovah to turn around and say "yes jim?

" (i think his first name was jim..forgot) .....wonder what happened to him...anyone know?

Yes I had him as our curcuit overseer. ; I really liked him he never bothered me about not being a regular pioneer.

After him we got Mary Jo and Ken Shen(sp)& She told me I was evil because I didn't want to pioneer.

Who Here Believes in God?

personally, i do not believe god ever has or ever will exist.

i have my reasons -- i guess i could be considered an agnostic, rather than an athiest.

i was curious to see what the larger part of the former borg community believed, now looking from the outside in, rather than the opposite.

I believe in God as a creator. I do not believe God Intervens in our lives today.

I wonder about the people in these congregations

that bill, barb& joe and the pandello attended.

i know they are all separate congregations in different areas.

but are all these people just sitting back watching this happen?

I was over at my parents house a couple weeks ago and Dateline came on and my Dad started telling me that Dateline had this horrible report about the Witnesses. I acted like I hadn't heard about it. He said that it was slander to the witnesses and that they were blowing it out of perportion (sp)? My mother chimmed in the Witness know handle these things very well and that there is no reason for this news report.

My cousin was molested by a 18 year old witness boy when she was 13. Of course his father was an elder and mother was a regular pioneer. No one believed her that she had been molested they said she was lying and she better not speak out or they would disfellowship her for slander.

But even though my parents know about that they still are under the mind control of the witnesses and will never beileve they are wrong. They are not allowed to have freeminds. My father told me after the last CO visit they had what my problem was he said you think for yourself. I laughed what do you mean I think for myself. He said the curcuit overseer made a great point at the elder meeting as witnesses you are not suppose to think for yourself you are to go by the bible and the watchtower. I told him I am glad I think for myself do what you want. But see these people have no desire to think for themselves they want the watchtower to do it for them.

the more meetings you go to the more drivel you hear.

elder's meetings were terrible because all you ever did was gossip about how everyone wasn't doing this or that.

meetings for field service sucked.....enough said on that.

My family was on those parts too and I hated them. The 5 of us would have to sit up there talking about the family study we never had. My dad would try to get us to do a family study couple of weeks after the part because he felt bad for lying but no one wanted another meeting during the week.

All of them. But I would have to say the Coventions and Assemblies were the worst due to sheer length.

When I was teenager I would do anything to get out of going to a meeting. One time my mother came home and said you missed a good one honey. I replied what was it about, Paradise, Jesus, Be sure to go in field service on Saturday and here are some examples on how to place the magazines. She got mad at me and didn't speak to me the rest of the evening. I think she was mad because I was right. Come to think of it she never did tell what happend at that meeting.

Confused

this is gonna take a while so bear with me .... i dunno where to start.

well i'm still a jw, still going to meetings etc although you do feel pretty bad sitting there knowing you'd like to be any place else.

like i've read from so many of you i've been the perfect jw kid excellent meeting attendence, good field service blah blah all that crap.

It is so hard to leave all your friends but you will make new friends. Go to college live your life. You will meet new friends. Better friends, friends that don't judge you because of your haircut.

5 Year Old Cousin Says Who Will Live & Die

(her mother has been a regular pioneer for 18 years) mind you this child cannot read or even count to 100. she out of the blue says to me "do you know if you do not go to meetings you will die at armagedon?

" she goes on to say that if she salutes the flag or eats birtday cake she will die and she knows her friend at school will die because she slautes the flag.

I could not believe this comming from a 5 year old. I told her she does not have to worry about God killing her friend or her. It sickend me to hear this little girl so brainwashed in doing what the witnesses want. I felt so bad that this fear of God killing her was inside her and she believed everyone was going to die if they were not a Jehovah's Witness. I guess that means I am doomed for destruction.
