You cannot live forever in paradise on earth
by Gopher inthe watchtower society has, for about seven decades, been attracting new volunteer workers for its field ministry with the promise of life forever on a paradise earth.
even the titles of its main study books since 1968 bear the promise: the truth that leads to eternal life, you can live forever in paradise on earth, and knowledge that leads to everlasting life.
how logical is this hope that leads people to entrust the watchtower with their time, energy and worldly possessions?

Survival
by startingover ini was talking to a friend the other day and he brought up something i hadn't thought about before.
he said that suppose the entire world was wiped out except for say 100 people.
humans have made huge advances being industrialized, but in this scenario, things as they are now could not be maintained.

Skyman,That map is very interesting. I'm going to see if anything else is written about that. Thanks
Acadian,
Spiritual maturity huh? I don't think people living in a stone age scenario would even have that enter their mind. That comment reminds me of the JW paradise speak, I assert that if they didn't have a grocery store in the paradise and they had to slave to grow their own food they would really be wishing they had this old wicked system of thing back.

He said that suppose the entire world was wiped out except for say 100 people. Humans have made huge advances being industrialized, but in this scenario, things as they are now could not be maintained. Life would revolve around survival and these people would revert back to hunter/gatherers and stay that way for a long, long time, even with the knowledge we have now. Just surviving would take all their time.
I believe it was Carl Sagan that thought this scenario has played out many times in the history of the earth. If a major disaster, like the Yellowstone caldera exploding or a huge meteorite hitting, life as we know it would be changed. If the disaster was bad enough man would go backwords just trying to survive.
Thoughts anyone?

Once again, why do they need 4 new high-rise residence buildings in Manhattan??? Is there not a thinking one left among them? Build them with
free/cheap labor sorrydedicated baptized resources from the regional building committee then sell them at huge profit - makes total sense to meJust asked a family member who was just there about the DUMBO project. I was told they are doing this project "because they can". Build it and sell it for the profit equals more money for the WWW. They are fitting the pattern. Condemn other religions that are engaged in commercial activities when your organization isn't large enough to do it, but then when it is large enough, do just like the others have "because they can."

I can't say I know for sure, but I would bet any money used to build KH's in other countries will be on a loan basis.

Elsewhere,
I posted the above before I read the article you posted. It's almost comical to me now to read that article and all the claims made. You could take any business where people are cooperating and make those same claims. Captives of a concept for sure.
I was watching the Mormon Tabernacle Choir the other night and was impressed at the huge production. Obviously evidence of god's blessing there too.

Just had a conversation with the family member who was in NY.
We talked about the move out of NY. I was told that moving things in and out of NY is getting impossible. Trucks sitting for hours in traffic, etc. So from that perspective the move makes sense.
I asked about the new DUMBO project. I wanted to know why they were doing that if they were moving everything out of the NYC, who would be occupying all the rooms? I was told they're doing it "because they can". Doing it to make money to build halls other places in the world. Basically doing it to make money.
I remember growing up as a JW in a highly Catholic community. The JW's met above storefronts and other rooms they rented. At that time the Catholics were vilified big time for doing just what the JW's are doing now. All the big buildings and money they had was proof they weren't god's people but just a huge commercial enterprise.
It seems to me that from a loyal JW's viewpoint no matter what the WTS does is OK. Whether it be real estate developing or using the UN for their clout, it's all OK in their mind because of this:
THE END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS

I recently attended a JW funeral in a KH. Even though it was a serious occasion, I caught myself a couple of times on the verge of an audible chuckle.
