The True Believers Don't Like Me! Buahahahahaha
by Elsewhere inthere is a new scam going around with a company called steorn that is claiming to have invented a "free energy" device called orbo.. they've been working on it for six years, yet all they have to show for their work is a little plastic motor that is powered by a battery.
(yeah, how is it free energy if they are using a battery?
i made my own youtube video response to all of the orbo believers.

GETTING SUCKED IN? Ask the right questions to get the right answers.
by Terry init is too easy to get sucked in to the wrong argument at the wrong time.. asking the wrong question leads to the wrong answer.
a wrong answer does nobody any real good.. i once had a heated discussion with an old friend who is still an active jehovah's witness.. he came back at me with this:.
"okay, then--if jehovah's organization is a false religion, where is the true one?

This really is a good thread, I'm glad it came back to life. Definitions seem to be the problem here. Has a christian out there somewhere ever thought about putting out a dictionary with christian meanings, because the meaning of words that I am used to apparently don't fit in that world.

Is the Yellowstone caldera safe? You decide...
by Nathan Natas infrom: http://www.clevelandleader.com/node/12890.
scientists on alert after hundreds of earthquakes daily rattle yellowstone national park.
over the course of the past two weeks, more than one-hundred mostly small earthquakes per day, on average, have shaken up a remote area of yellowstone national park in wyoming.

Sometimes it's hard to think of the big picture, the big picture that includes hundreds of thousands of years, and I have only lived during about 50 of them. That said, I'm glad I live west of Yellowstone, because if it blows everything east will be affected first. Doubt I'll see it in my lifetime, considering the big picture.

For non theists : What is the conscience and does it really matter?
by cyberjesus insince we dont believe in a set of moral standards based on the desires of a powerful god, on what do you base your conscience?
"how do you define it?
and if at the end of everything we are going to die, why does it matter to have a conscience?

Great thread! Cofty, thanks for posting about the bats. Interesting.
I think Sheryl Crow said it best: "If it makes you happy, it can't be that bad"

Just took a quick glance and came upon this:
Jehovah’s Witnesses are the only "True Christians™" and we are actually contemplating publishing a book with “Jesus” or “Christ” in its title.
Classic!

BLOOD and the Noahide Laws
by Terry ini doubt one jehovah's witness in a thousand has ever heard of the noahide laws as such.
it isn't part of the watchtower teaching.. there are good reasons for that.. noah and family were not jews, israelites or mosaic law covenant parties because they were long before such things even existed.. they were the new progenitors of the human family and represented what we might well call gentiles as a category.. what was jehovah expecting from these 8 souls (and their progency from the flood's end forward?
become "righteous" in his eyes?.

More Misc Ramblings About Gilead
by AllTimeJeff inhonestly, i can't remember if i told some of this already, so if i repeat myself, please allow me this.
i am practicing for old age..... it is now 6 years since i got the "long form" application for gilead, with over 120 questions to answer.
5 years since i got my notice that we were selected to attend the 119th class of gilead from april-september 2005.. prior to this, i really wanted to be a co. i won't belabor the point about my ex jw wife wanting to go overseas, but suffice to say, her goal won out over my goal.

The "Conscious of their Spiritual Need" Class
by cattails ini've started considering myself one of the members of the conscious class.
and this post is aimed at those still in and feeling trapped.. at matthew 5:3 jesus said: happy are those conscious of their spiritual need, since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.".
that being the case i'm going to be partaking of the emblems this march 30th, god willing.. if you're still in and your eyes have been opened, if you are conscious of a spiritual need within you that the wt isn't recognizing.... then praise god and christ and keep remembering the ransom sacrifice that purchased your salvation and that for all people.. if you're of the "conscious class" partake this year.

Bye Bye Conan
by startingover infor years i watched the tonight show with johnny.
he had a formula that worked.
he could be funny and serious, but he needed a sidekick announcer with a hearty laugh and a musician with flair to complete the package.
