And the worst is when you don't even leave your house and two religious folks wake you up on Saturday morning asking for a donation to their world wide work.

Corporate Virtue Signalling At Your Expense
by Simon inthe latest trend seems to be that you can't go to any store without being asked for money.. no, not the money for the things you went in there to purchase, extra money for the store to donate to charity.. yes, that's right, the big-name stores, often making $millions in profits, ask you to give them extra money so that they can give it to charity and get some publicity about how awesome they are so that they'll look good to their customers, like, erm, you.. it seems to have ramped up more in the last year or so and frankly, it pisses me off.
if i want to donate to some cause, i'll give the money straight to them.
i hate that it puts people on the spot to guilt them into donating and imagine some people on a tight budget may give even when they can't really afford it.. often you don't know what the charities really are (it's vague like "to help children") or how the money will be spent or even how much will go on the people it's supposedly to help (charity is a multi $billion industry, some just exist to pay themselves).. so what to do?

My JW Elder Brother Passed Away
by minimus inhe was basically a good man, just a believer in the religion.
when we were both elders we were best of friends and then things deteriorated when i was not an elder for a while.
then after becoming an elder again, i slowly drifted away from the religion and he drifted further away from me.

The removal of one comma turns a homophobe into a homo.
"Get away from my ass, man!"

JWs and the Holocaust
by Stealth inthe jws always like to highlight their persecution during the holocaust.
while true, the chart below showing numbers of victims for jw was the lowest of all persecuted groups.
even lower than spanish republicans.. im guessing there have been more victims due to the wt blood policy.

When at a low point it can be difficult to have a positive outlook. I have been there. But just knowing that it will get better in spite of not being able to see it at that moment, is what helped push me through.

If I became terminally ill, I would consider suicide. I could cut my life short and spare my family the burden of watching me die a slow death and possibly financial problems due to high medical cost. If I spare them from that outcome they could also have a windfall of life insurance. What difference does it make in the long run if I live an extra 6 months? We will all die and in 200 years no one on this planet will even know we existed. Has anyone else consider suicide for practical reasons?

Best way to deal with anger at the GB while waking up?
by CovertsadJW ingood morning everyone , .
i am wondering how people have personally delt with the anger at the gb when waking up and realizing it’s a scam, lie , and it’s awfully depressing .
i have had difficulty concentrating at work , have had an emotional roller coaster between okay days and awful days.

I took my initial anger out on a punching bag.
Then took personal responsibility for what I allowed myself to believe, spent a year reading and deprogramming myself.
I now live a fact based life and skeptical of anything that can't be proven.
I must admit there were times that I had thoughts like if I was terminally ill with 6 months to live, it would be so worth it to take one of those charlatan con men.... then once I realized it would only feed persecution complex for JWs not worth it at all. I left it all behind determined to live the rest of my life free of JW influence.
It gets better with time, but probably only if you can completely break away.

Anyone struggle to find meaning in life?
by Good JW injust wondering if this is a common thing for you guys and girls?
when i left the jws it was hard to make a connection with people, much of the time i felt that whatever they wanted to talk about just didn't seem relevant/deep/meaningful.
i find myself filtering my mind to get to a level with others (small talk mostly).

Many great comments so far.
If you feel you need more purpose in life, you don't have to look far. Foster some children who need an adult to look after them, or better yet, adopt a child. What greater purpose could there be then making a difference in the life of one single child. Someone has to do it, why not us?
I was shocked at how many children are waiting to be adopted in my state. Yes many come with issues, but there are also many smaller children. You can specify what age or sex you are willing to foster. We fostered twins at 4 months, then adopted them at 4 years. There is no time for depression or wondering what greater purpose we have in life. We are living it every day and it feels great to make a life altering difference in young persons lives who would otherwise be tossed aside, neglected or abused.
From a Christian perspective, Jesus told his followers to look after widows and orphans. I am a follower of Jesus even though I never set foot in a church or Kingdom Hall.
Best to you in your quest.

Remember when Cedars wrote an open letter to the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses offering advice on reforming the religion?
In hindsight, I think it was just envy for their ability to fleece the flock.

Hell Exists
by Poppy520 inmany people of all denominations are beginning to believe that hell does not exist - but the bible supports the claim that it does.
examine this verse, one under nkjv and the other nwt:.
nkjv - matthew 25:46, "and these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.".
