being very interested in psychology i read a book as a teenager and re-read it last year called " gestalt therapy verbatim " by frederick perls m.d.

ph, d. .

it deals with dreamwork therapy in which he conducted seminars helping people to re-connect with subconscious parts of themselves by recounting their dreams .

Interesting about dreams. I almost never can remember my dream, but I don't do a very good job of trying to either. I had a dream last night that I didn not even remember until I saw this post.

I was climbing up high on a mountain with my sons, one lost his footing and fell hundreds of feet to the ground. I watched in horror as this happened. There was some sort of slide at the top but was very hard to get to, I made it and managed to slide down to the bottom.

When I got to the bottom, my son was alive, but he could not remember things. He did not know who Tommy Lee Jones was. Why Tommy Lee Jones? I have no idea, have not watched any of his movies lately, he has not been in the news, etc.

I then woke up.

What does this mean?

Question for Believers - Why did god "create" poison ivy, poison toad stools, and marijuana?

if he created them, then he would have had to use divine intervention to protect people from eating them or burning them.

even after being told not to and passing that knlowedge on, small children could inadvertently get into poison berries or mushrooms.

what about bacteria that causes extreme stomach problems like giardia?

Time for this Newbie to say - Hello everyone!

in just the several months i've been lurking here, i have benefited from many of the posters comments and viewpoints.

this is truly a special place for the unique community that has been created here.. after years of holding off my exit from the org (that may be another post) i recently became officially out (by letter of da), but it was a very difficult process as many of you know.

thankfully, i now have my wife (was also a witness) onboard and we support each other.

i have seen debates and shizzle about god or not god etc etc.. i was even confronted by an aggressive and trheatening muslim in the street, who was angry that i wanted proof that god existed.

he ranted on a load of old b0110cks about 'hell' and stuff.

finally he yelled at me: 'do you want god to write your name in the sky?

Just looking in to see if anyone proved God exists yet. Looks like no.

Maybe God did exist at one time billions of years ago, but blew himself up during the big bang.

Maybe god is dead.

The antidote to the myth that JWs are declining

one of the most persistent myths on this website is that jws are already in decline, the rot has set in, and the descent of the watchtower is inevitable from here on in.

unfortunately the facts do not bear this out.

jws are still increasing even in most developing countries, and they are still growing worldwide at a faster rate than the general population.

Regardless if it's pubs fudging numbers or the WT fudging numbers, the stats they publish can't be trusted.

More important is that more and more are becoming mentally free.

Once mentally free the donation$ stop. I know they did in my case.

The lack of $ coming in is what will drive the decline of the WT. We are already seeing it with the quality of the spirutal food coming out.

From that perspective, the decline has started.

Looking up scriptures during meetings

recently i attended a jw funeral after a 12 year fade.

i did not bring a bible to the talk.

i found it somewhat odd and distracting to the flow of the talk at how much time was spent by all the jws looking up scriptures in the bible that they have all have read 1,000s of times before.

One of the first out of context scriptures that I noted was the one in Revelation 14. The WT claims the 144,000 is a literal number, yet when the same verses describe this group as 'virgins' who did not 'defile themselves with women' this part was not literal but figurative. How can it be both?

They pick and choose what they want even in the same verses. Guess the GB have a sexual need too, so that part didn't apply to them.

I was very fast at looking up scriptures.

After learning the TATT, I came to realize, look up scriptures fast does not equate to knowledge of those scriptures.
