I got an invite last year after 12 years of nothing. I was expecting the same elder to return this year. What is the date they will be doing it this year?

Will firing the DOs be the first step to a new Watchtower?
by Juan Viejo2 inagainst my better judgement, i've decided to share the following as a response to guy pierce passing and the announcement of the elimination of district overseers later this year.. late in january (2014) i got an email from one of my contacts (a fader) who served at bethel for several years, but is no longer at wt hq.
he still has a lot of close contacts within the service department and in other departments at patterson and knows people in all of the ny offices.
i kept this email set aside on a flash drive and haven't shared it with anyone - figuring i'd publish an article about it later this year when i had more time to do it right.

Like many corporations the WT is getting top heaving caring for the aging group of loyal JWs who have dedicated most of their entire life to the corporation. Many corporations are dumping traditional retirement programs in favor of 401k matching for the same reason. Where I live, the police force is under staffed but they can't hire more because of their financial obligations to retired cops.
Other religions provide retirement homes for the aging / retired clergy.
The Governing Body is really making Jehovah look like a douch bag compared to other religions when it comes to caring for those who sacraficed most of their living years doing their bidding.
Way to go governing douches.

Being an Atheist Is Bad For Your Health
by Space Madness ini stopped believing in god in july 2013. in the first 3 months or so i felt liberated and relieved that i can live my life anyway i wanted without worrying about an invisible being watching my every move.
i also felt slightly superior that i was able to figure out that god isn't real while the majority of mankind continued to be fooled.
atfer the feelings of excitment statrted to wear off, i started to become more depressed and empty.

Designs: In the cases of terminal illness- how does religious belife or lack of affect end of life choices. Anecdotally I hear Christians clinging to life at the end stage (Heaven can wait). As an atheist now I would opt for not prolonging the inevitable.
When I was a so called christain (JW) I would never considered suicide for fear I may not get to pet my lion in the new world order. Now that I am an athiest and accepted mortality, I would consider doing so purely for practical reasons as pointed out by designs if I had a terminal illiness.
I never understood why many christains want to go to heaven but they don't want to die to get there.
Space Madness, there are many causes of depression, just don't assume it's because you became an athiest. Depression is treatable, see a Dr. Hope things get better for you.

Suggestion for title of final Final Talk from GB
by sparrowdown inok, so it's right before the big a.. gb are just about to depart heavenward but not before leaving us something to remember them by.. so after several rounds of rock, paper, scissors one of them goes up to the podium, adjusts his tie, clears his throat and says....... .
"so long, and thanks for all the fish".
now anyone familiar with hitch hikers guide to the galaxy would know that was.

also some put on a false personality until they get what they want i.e. sex.
This is true and also often occurs to people who are not JWs and do have sex before marriage. I have heard the same story many times from women, that once they got married the man's whole personality changes to a compulsive, controlling jerk. They claim they never saw it prior to marriage.

No sex before marriage. Would you buy a car without test driving it first? Marriage is a much bigger commitment than buying a car.

If you see lawyers as money grubbers, it might be a two-way street
I have hired a lawyer twice in my life. The first gave me bad legal advice that cost me over $10,000. When I brought it to his attention that his BAD advice cost me $10k, he got snotty with me and said maybe I should just fire him if I didn't like what he was doing for me. I would have liked to fire him, but we were in the last phase of the divorce case so firing him would only have cost me even more $ to hire another and time. My hands were tied to really do anything except suck it up.
The second lawyer I ever hired cost $3,000 retainer and he made one phone call. When I asked him if we would get any of the retainer back he laughed at me.
On the other hand, I have never ripped off any lawyers. (ohhh I see where your going... we are ripping you off by getting free legal advice that you post of your own free will?) Really?
DOC: We all know it's unfair to lump them all together. 99% of all lawyers give all the other good ones a bad name.
This has been the case with my limited experience with lawyers. I understand that 2 in not a large enough sample, but that is my experience.
Why do you think there are so many negative lawyer jokes?
I would think a lawyer who has 7 years of education and real world experience would have a little thicker skin then getting all upset and want to leave this community over some idiot talking out his ass. Insead of setting the idiot straight, you instead throw a tantrum because someone dared to disagree with you?
BOTR, I like reading your posts and I have also become educated along the way due to your posts. Leave if you must, but there is no reason to insult everyone on your way out.

CIRCUIT ASSEMBLIES KEEP SHRINKING IN SIZE - WAY TO GO!!
by steve2 inthe recent boe letter announcing changes to the duration of circuit assemblies was warmly received by congregations the worldover.
it was as if the brothers and sisters were already in the new world for, upon hearing this news, there were no tears at all.
instead, it is a humble acknowledgement from the gb of the mind-numbing, yawn-inducing 2-day circuit assemblies.. .

My Explanation of Why They Got it Wrong About Blood Using Only the NWT
by cofty in10 " any israelite or any alien living among them who eats any bloodi will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from his people.
12 therefore i say to the israelites, "none of you may eat blood, nor may an alien living among you eat blood.
15 'anyone, whether native-born or alien, who eats anything found dead or torn by wild animals must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be ceremonially unclean till evening; then he will be clean.
