by Englishman in...........we were stunned, i had never heard a father treat anyone with such a harsh contempt, and my heart went out to the daughter who later visited my then local pub the unicorn to seek me out..... thats right, the 18 year old daughter turned up in my local pub and brought her 20 year old witness brother along with her.
after several pints of ale, he informed me that he was heavily into smoking pot and that he was concerned that he might get df'd if he was caught.
he didn't see why he couldn't enjoy a joint without giving up being a witness, she had just finished watching the movie "shirley valentine", did i know what a clitoris was?.

There is no one killer punch, but what's happening now will continue to happen - the Tower is reeling from being hit so rapidly from so many different directions - the paedophile cover-ups, the UN cover-up, the blood issue, the drifting away of young people in search of lives, the absence of any end date to work towards, the dying away of the old guard. The Tower may simply collapse from sheer exhaustion some time soon...

at los angeles international airport, cars can again pick up and drop off passengers, replacing the bus shuttle system from a remote parking lot.
at denver international airport, parking lots are filled, wait time in security lines is down to 15 minutes and, according to the rocky mountain news, "even jehovah's witnesses are back, proselytizing and handing out free copies of their watchtower magazine.".

When a JW comes to your door, ask for the magazine.
And when exactly is that likely to be, Fred? I haven't had a Dub come to my door (without me begging one I knew to deliver that month's magazine once) for over a year! Some time before that, on one of their visits, I asked an old Dub why the number of visits by his congregation had dropped so markedly in the few short years since we'd been here. He told me how there was a lot of depression and divorce in the congregation, and the young people were trying to get educations and good jobs rather than pioneering (he was a very honest Dub - a rare breed!). When I was in New Zealand in 1999, I stayed with a friend overnight in Auckland the night before I flew back to Sydney. About 15 minutes before we were due to leave for the airport, there was a knock at the door. Guess who? My friend was amazed - in the 18 months of living there, there'd never been a JW at the door, and yet the day a known Dub opposer like me stays there, here they are! One of the posters on this board mentioned that it'd been 3.5 years between the last two visits by Dubs.
So, when is this "next visit" going to be, Fred? It seems to me that the "love" of many in the congregations is growing cold...

The JW/Diamond Ring Scam
by Mindchild ini was going through some old papers today and found reference to a really nasty little scam that is still very popular in the usa and perhaps around the world.
it is typically called the diamond ring scam but it can take several different forms.. here is how it typically works.... a very well dressed and affluent looking person (male or female) will go to a business that only has one person working there.
quite often this is a gas or petrol station but it can just as easily be a liquor store or a convenience store.

I'd be so interested that the rightful owner get the diamond back that I'd not fall for it; I'd simply give the card with the phone number on it to the guy who found the "diamond" so they could collect the reward and the owner could have his diamond back. Such scams only work if the intended victim is greedy and dishonest enough to go along with it.

Too right, Outlaw! The Dubs have had the occasional burst of innovation from time to time, but it isn't encouraged from the top. Some examples: the guy who invented the verticle record player for playing the Judges speeches in the door to door work, the mob that made software for keeping theocratic records such as the monthly total of hours spent in field service a few years back (who were told by Brooklyn to cease and desist) and the attempts by competent musicians to make the dirge like Kingdom Maladies palatable, until Brooklyn again pulled the plug upon this outlet of Dub creativity.

If they'd just trust their own members, the JWs could be a great source of enthusiasm and innovation. Unfortunately they've still got a Cold War style model of the world running - a "them and us" scenario, with all information flowing to the top and all decisions being handed down from the top. A network of Dubs could be a formidable force, but unfortunately for the Brooklyn boys, the network IS forming, but it ain't on their side! LOL
