Hi Puppylove,

Sad story. Have you and hubby got any "worldly" friends who celebrate Christmas? If you told them that you lead a deprived life and never got a chance to celebrate Christmas with a normal family, you never know, you might get an invitation! You could offer to help out with certain aspects of the celebration. If I were you, I'd try - a decent Christmas celebration is worth the effort and the fuss, IMO!

i am just a young teenager, and my first ever boyfriend is a jw!!

at that time i didn't even know what a jw was, no one at school ever really mentioned anything.

i had no idea what i was getting into.

Hi LRB,

An interesting dilemma! As you say, it's a teenage romance, so there's not much scope for it going anywhere, especially with Dub Dad and Mum keeping such a tight leash on your boyfriend. I'd look into why you like him. If you couldn't marry a Dub, then why do you feel safe with one as a boyfriend? If he decides he likes you enough to have you around on a long term basis, he'll be trying to proselytise you into his religion; as you probably already know, anyone not in the Dubs is considered by them to be "bad associaton". You might be better off getting out while the getting's good. After all, things don't sound too intimate at the mo, so I can't see that you're giving up much. Of course, that's your call!

I don't know how to date..............

Being concerned about another person's motives is a throwback to your upbringing. So what if the other person wants to get something out of the relationship? It's okay if you do, so it is for them to have hopes and desires too. As for worrying that the thing that they want isn't what you want to give them, that's what relationships are all about - negotiation and compromise. Bottomline: stop trying to mindread, and start asking people what they want and telling them what you want. Communication is the foundation of all long-term relationships.

another famous aussie apostate bbq is going to be held this coming sunday, 9th december.. any aussies (or anyone else that's willing to fly, swim or sail to our country) that wants to come, please email me or ozziepost for details.. who knows, maybe we might be able to convince ozzie to dress up as santa for us!!

I'll go so far as to say that the day I took those photos at the apostate BBQ, there may or may not have been some sort of bikers' gathering next to us, and that the photos may or may not be of that. Some ex-JWs aren't willing to have their mugs plastered all over the internet just yet... As for those women, if you look carefully, there isn't anything particularly intimate about that kiss, it's just the initial shock value that makes it so amusing, IMO!

Imagine yourself in the same position - you take photos at a function that you can't use - what do you do? I've been accused of dishonesty, but I was just having a bit of tongue-in-cheek fun.

Waiting, an Aussie BBQ usually involves charring large lumps of meat - either steak, lamb chops or sausages; often all three. Side dishes MUST include a potato salad, a rice salad and a green salad. There has been a move towards BBQing seafood in modern times, but never at any of the apostate BBQs that I've been to.

A note for the sake of "honesty" - those pics of Prisca and Ozzie are artists renditions of what they may or may not look like...

How to wash your dishes properly

i remembered the other day reading in an awake, oh it must have been about five or six years ago, an article on how to wash your dishes properly.

for god's sake, do jw's not know how to do that and do the borg think they have to tell them how to do it.

it's cracking me up just thinking about it.. to make you laugh even more, in the next issue of awake someone had written a bloody letter thanking them for the article and how it had helped them so much and had a query on whether to rinse dishes with water or not after washing.

I stand vindicated! I made a prediction here just after September 11 that the Tower would write just such an article capitalising on the tragedy and trying to get their own spin on it. I used the example of how they used the Port Arthur killings in Tasmania. Fred got most annoyed at me, IIRC. How are you feeling now, Fred? It seems I've got better predictive powers than those of your precious Governing Body! LOL
