It started in the Airport Vineyard Church in Toronto, so it was called the Toronto Blessing. Some of the stuff got so extreme that even the Vineyard, not a conservative church in any way, kicked the Airport Branch out of their fold.
i ran into some financial shortfalls this long weekend because my son drove up and surprised me with a visit.
i showed him a good time now that he is 21 and anyway i ran short before payday.

Co-workers are usually pretty generous when it comes to outings. When you do head out with them, perhaps a reference to your cult background whereby you learned that all gifts had strings attached would help them understand your original reluctance.

Modern Marvels is one of my favourite History Channel regulars. Although I think they haven't read their own brief, sometimes, when they'll cover something far from Modern like the Colliseum or Mediaeval Cathedrals...

Many moons ago an a bible study turned up to a meeting with a christmas tree strapped to her head. From memory it was about 50cm high and complete with decorations and little flashing lights. She wore it for the entirety of the meeting and everyone pretended it was not there.
There should be more of that! Someone should turn up dressed in that smoking cigarette costume they used on that quit smoking ad (Nicorette, IIRC) a few years ago - that'd be a classic!

Jim, you and Randy make a great deal of sense. My first reaction was much like when I heard someone else had returned to that sect: "If that's what you want -- whatever." But your analogy to drugs struck home.
The trouble with Stafford's return, unlike that of any lesser mortal, is that he carries with him that fake ring of scholarly legitimacy.His recapitulation to the Borg's agenda makes it that little bit easier to entrap those still in. IOW, he is an enabler of abuse. He's nothing more than the Borg's pet Judas Goat.

now i wasn't going to share this, but i just have to!
i can't tan (had melanoma skin cancer) so i decided that for the long-awaited bbq on saturday i'd treat myself to a "spray-tan".
for those of you who don't know, its false tanning where you are sprayed with the tanning all over and it lasts about a week.. what a disaster!.
