.......and, one reason Aborginals make up 2% is that they've been genocided for many years....
That depends very much on the state. In New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, Aborigines were treated as citizens and had the vote. In Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory, Aborigines were denied the vote and were treated like cattle or children. Section 41 of the Constitution was included as a condition of South Australia's entry into the Commonwealth; SA wanted to guarantee that its universal suffrage worked at both State and Federal levels. But in the 1920s (IIRC), the Federal Parliament passed a law that overrode Federal voting rights for Aborigines. Aborigines in NSW, Victoria, SA and Tasmania were still able to vote in their respective State elections, but not in the Federal ones. This was reversed by Federal Parliament in 1962, and in 1967 a referendum passed that transferred Aboriginal Rights from the States to the Federal government.
IOW, the "genocidal" stuff happpened in places like Queensland. That the Myall Creek Massacre could have happened within living memory in this country is a great cause for deep shame. I once argued over this incident with one of the silliest people I know. She found nothing wrong with rounding up and summarily executing a hundred of the local Aboriginal men because one of them may have raped a white woman. I was absolutely furious, and reminded her that under British Law (where our legal codes come from), the rule of Law is paramount. If someone commits a crime, he should be found, brought before a court to be tried, and then if convicted, justice brought to bear. You don't just round up the nearest large group of people and kill them!
it is a long way to my ranch..i mean along way..i live hundreds and hundreds of miles from any large city..the only general store is a miles and miles and miles away..once you get to the area i live, you have to travel a wagon trail that was here in the 1800`s.you`ve got to travel that wagon trail for awhile.there are a few wagon trails that split off from the main one..it`s a whole lot of nothing in every direction..if you manage to chose the right wagon trail to my ranch you still have a way`s to travel.once you get to my ranch,it`s fenced off,the gate is closed and the huskeys guard the yard..your not getting in.....what do i see when i get to the ranch gate?..it looks like a letter, stuffed into a plastic bag..i get closer and it`s too big to be a letter, maybe it`s a wanted poster for outlaw..lol!
!..i finally get to the gate, pull the plastic bag from between the boards of the gate..it`s a 2 page pamphlet about as thick as 2ply toilet paper.it says:"the end of false religion is near!"..??
?..how the hell did a jw find thier way here?..were they lost?..did the dogs eat them?..lol!

Caught the first two episodes of Torchwood on BBC3 last night.
It was great. Dr. Who spin off for adults (It had sex in itand violence)
Groan! Not another thing to try to avoid! The only reason I've seen any of Dr Who Mk2 is that my wife absolutely loves it, and I end up watching it because it's on before Iron Chef!
my bf emailed this to me, thought it was an interesting bit of information, so i'm passing it on:.

what is borderline personality disorder?.
It's always good to get info on these subjects.
BPD isn't one of my "problems", luckily for me, but I still have a couple of others to contend with. It was here that I became aware of what one of my problems might be. SO these posts are always helpful, because they might help someone who has, or knows someone who has, certain symptoms of these various disorders.
i just found out today's wendy's b'day!.
happy, happy birthday, wendy!.
hugs,.
A day late but, Happy Birthday, Wendy!
some ten years ago, i was on a business trip in germany and visited a congregation in frankfurt a.m. a very lively one, comments from the audience, small bags with candy being passed along, very friendly people, just the way you would like a congregation to be.
people massed up to greet me after the meeting; then sort of "floating" towards me, the other ones giving room for her, comes a very small, fagile, old woman, and she had this sort of radiance around her, shining - and i am not joking, neither was i stoned, i was just experiencing depressions and generally a hard and tough period of my life - anyway, she comes up to me, quietly bends my head down towards her, kisses my forehead and says, "my son", looks at me with her shining eyes - and disappears in the crowd.
"she is one of the remnant", says the one next in line to greet me.. i felt blessed somehow, as if she had "read me" and then told me that "it's all going to be ok, you are ok, just stick to the course and abide in jesus, and things will turn out just fine".
Hey, Oldhippy! How're you goin'? Haven't seen you for a while.
It's amazing how those memories of a kindly word and a gentle touch can mean so much when we remember them in later harder times.
i have a cousin who has been an elder for many years.
many times his wife has approached the body of elders seeking marital counseling.
it would appear being a "god" over the family was more important than being a loving spouse.

BTW Elsewhere, Daleks have been levitating up stairwells at least since the erly 80s...
I started watching Dr. Who in the Tom Baker era.
I personally think it peaked with Tom Baker. This new guy in the pin-stripe suit isn't too bad as the Doctor, however.
