Your post on the behaviour of JW's and the programmed attitudes reminded me of an old Star Trek episode where Kirk and the gang have to deal with a robotic probe intent on cleansing the Universe of the imperfect. Spock overloads its brain with logic and convinces the robot that it is imperfect and thus should kill itself.

Actually it was Kirk who used the logic, to Spock's amazement.

Actually there is a small amount of truth to this exaggeration. NZ politics is a hobby of mine(!); I was in Auckland for an election night party last time I was there. It seems the Greens Party had done more campaigning in Sydney than in all of NZ (they had Bobby Brown's help!) - Sydney is actually NZ's largest electorate with 300,000 Kiwis resident

From your anecdotes UB, I gather it's been some time since you were there; Roger Douglas and crew have swept through the [place and brought it screaming and kicking into the 1950s since then! :)

Oh, really? If I try engaging them in conversation in all my areas of interest what sort of intelligent conversation do you think I get? My hobbies and interests are: politics, the internet and my university studies! :)

The JW who built our kids' cubby (club)house said that since Jesus was the "perfect man", what sort of a carpenter would he have been!!! If all he gets from the life of Jesus is perfect carpentry, you've got to wonder what planet he's from!
