Anyone Remember The Chaperone Thing?
by Englishman inback when i was a lusty young lad of 17, a certain sister caught my eye - i swear that she could make her eyelashes beckon - and i duly decided to pay court to said sister.. however, it was not to be so simple.
round about that time, it would have been mid-60's, the wtbts were having a real downer on anyone who wore a short skirt (not me), danced the twist or grew their hair (me) over their ears.. but, the worse thing was still to come.

The Dubs are really living in a fantasy land. The real world is steadily forcing its way in through the walls they have erected in the last century. People are seeing freedom, and it is NOT behind the Watchtower walls the way they were promised. Any Dub on the internet will know what it's about - look at YK and Yoyomama - technically in breach of Tower regs, but enjoying the stimulation of arguing with people who don't just regurgitate all the predigested crap from up the front of the KH.
A thought: in this day and age, how does the antiquated chaperoning rule cope with online JW dating services? How do you apply that rule to a couple who communicate in the privacy of their own bedrooms with each other? The internet thing allows people to meet from great distances away - two people from different areas meeting up with each other would easily foil the local spy network. Just another example of the Tower losing its power, I guess.

What JW fact would you like to know?
by sleepy injust been thinking about some info i would love to know but will probably never find out.. what i wish for is a book about the lives of the societies presidents.. i would like to have first hand acounts of what they were really like and what others thought of them.. did they really belive what they taught , were they con men or just slightly mad?.
i would mostly like to know about russell and rutherford.. trouble is there arent many people alive who would remmember them well.. prehaps someone can help me out.

There's a book on my shelf named Questions for Jehovah's Witnesses Who Love The Truth by a William Cetnar. It's mostly reproductions of Watchtower and Awake! articles which show the WBTS for what it is, but towards the end the author recounts some of the things he saw in Bethel during Knorr's reign - including some of the blatant bribes Knorr received in return for privileges in the Society. Cetnar was kicked out in 1962 for questioning the blood doctrine.

There is no conspiratorial reason why Simon - his pic was the smallest and most recognisable I had handy in the time I had to get the game up and running. If I'd had more time, there would have been Fred battling TR, Bboy, and a host of other apostates. Perhaps I could incorporate levels where more apostates are gradually introduced...

He's merely regurgitating what he's read in the literature. A 1970s Awake tells the story of a "bad" girl who had a transfusion from her "good" sister, and then she started to become more responsible, like her sister! I'll find the article, if I can be bothered - it's on the CDROM.
