I've been looking around at stuff on the 'net, and, subject to having materials available at the time, I may make that old standard of homeshop machinists, the quickchange toolpost. Sherline sell one, but because of the exchange rate it is expensive. It would be a good way to find my feet again: dovetail cutting, making a camlock and so forth.

I hope you get a chance some day soon to get some metal shop machinery and start designing and building.
(Dragging this thread up from a while ago)
You must be a good hoper! It looks fairly certain that with in a month or three, I'll be able to obtain the Sherline complete machine shop package (Lathe and Milling machine inclusive). Okay, so it's not exactly man-sized, but it's pretty well complete as far as being able to make most stuff, albeit on a petite scale. I may undertake a long term project of building a larger lathe, powered by (say) an old washing machine motor. (Am I in the club now??) Until then, I'll probably start with stuff like your shot glasses and maybe candlestick holders.

If ur child died, would u visit the grave and always "talk" to them?
by fedorE inalthough i still have doubts there is life after death, i believe i would be hanging on to every last vestige of my son that i could and that means talking to him.
talking into the air and crying.
realizing this is his final resting place.

It's been years since I visited my daughter's grave. She's not there; just her earthly remains. Going there doesn't bring her back, it just highlights how far away she is.

Tell us your crazy dreams...
by exwitless inanother topic talking about the dubs fear of armageddon reminded me of a pretty scary dream i had as a dub:.
i was in a doctor's office waiting to be called in (i know, that's scary enough!
), and there were windows along one wall floor to ceiling.

The meds I'm on have caused me to start dreamig pretty-well whenever my eyes are closed (dozing, anyway). And vividly. However, because I've been dreaming so much, the storylines are becoming more mundane. And I also get what I call the "Gilligan's Island Syndrome"; where I'll wake up actually physically performing the last action I dreamt.
I once was sitting here, in front of the computer and dozed off for a few seconds. I dreamt my wife was next to me, bending over to get something out of a cupboard. I leant over to bite her bottom (hey, it's a dream, Okay!). I suddenly snapped awake and found myself leaning over, with my mouth wide open.

Man! Having read plenty of prospecting magazines, I've been aware of the stuff and all the warnings about it, but I had no idea it was that dangerous and insidious! Some of the crazier prospectors use it to dissolve the quartz and ironstone off gold nuggets they've found with their metal detectors.

Your Opinion: What Do You Think Of Legally Going After Individual Elders?
by minimus insince the society has told the elders that they are basically on their own, why don't we give more thought to suing the elders-----not just the watchtower society?.
when i was an elder ii was very concerned that i might get sued and be liable in a lawsuit.
it was one of the reasons i didn't want to be an elder..

Taking the first result of 'Financial' - most elders havent got a pot to piss in and so it would be no good chasing money from those who simply havent got it.
Oh, I dunno, a bloke who might lose his house may think twice before harrassing an 11yo boy in a public toilet...

Harrassment and defamation/slander/libel are the legal grounds on which they could be taken to court. Not taking them to court because that'll say something about those "evil 'postates" is no reason. They already believe that stuff, anyway. If, however, that belief comes back to bite them in the arse, they might think twice about how to handle future ways in which they interpret and apply Mother's intructions. In the old days, exes were cowed and without external support. Things are different now; exes are well-informed and now empowered.

JW Trivial Persuit -- The Game
by V ini am collecting good trivia questions for a jehovah's witness version of trivial persuit.
i am particularly interested in trivia that pertains to the "unknown" history and practices of the organisation.. examples: .
what image is printed on the cover of the studies in the scriptures series?who was the only member of the governing body to be disfellowshipped?what year was the "faithful prophets of old" confidently expected to return to beth sarim?
