i realise that women were also born, or there wouldn't be a jewish race...but why are most births recorded of the bible hero's mostly or nearly all men?.
eve has cain, able, and seth.. noah has 3 sons.. abraham has children by two women...ishmael by hagar, and issac by sarai.. issac has esau and jacob.. jacob has twelve sons...mostly by rebeccah's maidservant except for joseph.. yes, some of these ones had other sons and daughters....but it seems it was the males who always were the first out of the chute.
Cain and Abel were the first two Eve had, and Seth was her 3rd.
The Bible gives the order of their sons, but not the birth order of ALL of the children (does it?). Seth might've been the 4th child is all I'm saying. Girls could've been in the mix somewhere.
So I disagree that "we can at least be sure the first three out of their loins were males."

Hi Stinker....if your correct, that would make the bible a lie ya know?......... and all the other books that put men before women in this manner.
Well, not necessarily. It would just explain why men are exalted more than women. It was commonplace and accepted is all.
Let's just take Eve's and Noah's offspring. We can at least be sure the first three out of their loins were males. What are those chances in reality?
Wait.. where does it say that their first offspring were male? I recall the Bible listing males, but did it also include birth order?

Most cultures, ancient and contemporary, focus on men. It's not limited to the Bible by any means. Why? Evolutionarily, men have more physical strength and therefore are able to dominate women. Over time this has reenforced by writings such as the Bible which place men "above" women. Oh wait, so does the Koran and other "holy" books. It's just man's way to keep the focus on them, and women in their place (silent).
At least that's my theory.

am i to expect with all the adjustments regarding new rulings of da'd & df'd all falling within the same category that there is to be a cleaning house of the ones who are inactive and are no longer meeting attenders.
i just got a knock on my door from a brother who's been trying to get me to activate my study and go back to the hall, though this time he seemed to have a new urgency about the situation.

hello everyone, i was raised in the borg from about 1983 till i fell away around 1998. i have only been to a couple of memorials over the years and i have lost touch with alot of people that i care about.

of all the privileges only brothers may have, doing mics seemed to be one of the most tedious.
it was definitely something you could graduate from... but why?
when i was the sound guy, it was always so hard to get brothers to do the mics.
In the congregations around here there are so few brothers who qualifiy and show up to do the mikes that the elders are forced to do it.
In our congregation, the elders did none of that, no matter what. At one point we had one MS (my brother), so I was assigned to help collect the money in the contribution boxes, and help with the accounts. I found that very weird since we had like 10 elders at the time. Of course, I was ecstatic about it since I was chosen over all of the other sisters to do it. Kinda sad the things we used to get excited about..
i was going to post this in the entertainment forum, but i remembered how i was not supposed to watch this movie.
when i did, i was terrified.
this was truly creepy to me.
I thought White Noise sucked! I wasn't scared at all.. lame! As for Hide & Seek, I liked it but it wasn't too hard to figure out what was going on. Amityville? I will most definitely be seeing it.. but I go see almost every "horror" movie that comes out. I'd also recommend Boogeyman. The plot isn't all that great, but it has plenty of cheap scares.
